About Krista

Hi there! My name is Krista, and I am the owner of KKH Doula Services in Calgary, AB, Canada. It is so nice to meet you! I started my doula business in January 2022. I became a postpartum doula after struggling in my own postpartum journey. Lacking my own support, I was diagnosed with postpartum depression and anxiety. It was through my perinatal mental health groups that I learned about postpartum doulas and the amazing work they do! I immediately signed up for postpartum doula training, and the rest is history! I have been so fortunate to have supported many families in their postpartum journey. Families seek me out because of my lived experience with perinatal mental health disorders, grief, and over 12 years' experience in the disability and mental health field. I am described as a kind, calm, hard-working, reassuring, and knowledgeable person, and I bring these qualities to my doula practice. I would be honoured to support you in your own journey! Please reach out for a free consultation to see if I would be the right match for you and your family!

We had an amazing experience with Krista as our overnight doula. She was always punctual, warm, kind, and incredibly reliable. From the moment she arrived each night, I felt completely comfortable knowing my newborn was in such good hands. One of the biggest things I appreciated was that I could actually sleep soundly. I rarely heard my baby cry or fuss during the night because Krista was so attentive and responsive to their needs. Every morning, I woke up feeling rested and reassured that my baby had been cared for with so much love and attention. Krista’s calm presence, knowledge, and genuine care made those early newborn weeks so much easier for our family. We are incredibly grateful for her support and would highly recommend her to any family looking for newborn care.

Krista supported us after our baby was born, with overnight postpartum doula services. She was so kind and knowledgeable, and she was a lifesaver. When you're sleep deprived, getting a full night's sleep and waking up to fresh banana bread is game changing.

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance do you require for booking?

This really depends on my current availability and the family’s needs. I always advise families to reach out as soon as possible. Once a contract is signed and the retainer received, the family is locked into my calendar! I also do my best to accommodate any changes needed, such as start date and support days/times.

Do you charge a mileage fee?

No, this is included in my hourly rate!

Do you offer sibling support for older children while the birthing person is giving birth?

Unfortunately, I do not offer this service at this time, as it will be too disruptive to my current postpartum clients’ schedules.

What does a virtual visit look like?

This is a fantastic option for families who may only have some questions and don’t need hands-on support or live outside of my service range! In these visits, I can answer questions, conduct some demonstrations (such as swaddling, babywearing, bathing, feeding, etc.). I also conduct emotional and wellness check ins, talk through a parent’s birth experience, provide relevant resources, and provide peer support for folks who may be going through a difficult time. These visits can be by phone or video call.

Are you certified through Carrot?

Yes!
