Childcare has been my career for over thirteen years. Since 2011, I have had the privilege of supporting a wide range of families, caring for children from four months to twelve years of age in both private homes and early years settings. Along the way, I have intentionally sought opportunities that have broadened my experience, from private nanny positions and family support roles to early childhood education, leadership, and operating my own licensed childcare business. Hi my name is Madi, and I’m a mixed Acadian/Migmaw birth and end-of-life doula in the Edmonton area. I decided to become a birth worker and end-of-life doula because I believe every single person deserves an advocate. Every person deserves autonomy and the right to make decisions. Every person should be allowed access to traditional medicines. Trained through DONA, I have practiced as a birth worker for about two years. I have serviced births in every Edmonton hospital, and I have experience with at home water births. Birthing to me is a sacred act that should be seen as just that - sacred. For her second birth, she achieved an empowering home water birth with the assistance of her midwife and doula. I am married and have four children ranging from ages 15-24. I am a Christian and I am passionate about the importance of children having lots of nurturing and love (you can't spoil a baby). I understand there is a lot to learn for new moms (I wish I knew more with my first one) and they need a lot of support to keep healthy in body and mind especially in the first couple months. I enjoyed breastfeeding all my children and feel like you should too if you can. I have a lot of info and experience on that matter.
