About Emma

Hi, I’m Emma, your local birth bestie and birth aficionado! I’m a DONA trained doula based out of Toronto, ON looking to support families throughout their birth journey. My goal is to provide amazing care to each client, tailored to their specific needs. Ever since I was young, I have been passionate about supporting families. Inspired by my childhood dreams of being a early childhood educator, an OBGYN and later a midwife, I have always felt a strong pull towards family care and birth work. In my community, I started by becoming the favourite neighborhood babysitter, then in University I became a loving part time nanny, then moved on to work as a manager of a children’s swim school for several years. Alongside my passion for birth support, I have a deep appreciation for art and creativity. I spent three years working at an art gallery and went on to get my Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in Painting. Even then, my dream of caring for families never left me, with my passions leading me to run impromptu prenatal education sessions during lunch breaks at work. In May of 2024 I made the exciting decision to take a step back from my art career and focus full time on becoming a doula. Now, I am dedicated to being the best “birth bestie” I can be for my clients by proving them with compassionate care, encouragement, and unwavering support every step of the way.

Labour and Birth Support Package

-Two individualized prenatal appointments where we will chat about your personal goals, needs, and educational resources -Weekly check-ins by text or email -Support throughout your labour and delivery including one to three hours post delivery -Labour documentation (if desired) including basic photography, video, and a written birth story -On call 24/7 support via text, call, facetime, or email, starting 3 weeks before your due date -Support via text, call, FaceTime, or email, morning to evening (9am-9pm), before 37 weeks gestation -One postpartum visit -Access to a peanut ball and other comfort measure tools *BACKUP DOULA INCLUDED

Virtual Labour and Birth Support Package

Sibling Doula Care

-Providing emotional support to your child(ren) during labour or postpartum hours. -Engaging child(ren) in age-appropriate activities, play, and companionship. -Offering reassurance, comfort, and maintaining routine where possible. -Assisting with light household support related to childcare needs (tidying play areas, making meals and snacks, etc.). -Accompanying child(ren) within your home or birth environment. -On-call availability after 37 weeks for you until the birth through phone, text, or email. -10+ years of experience taking care of children

$40 CAD · Per hour

What kind of training do you have? Are you certified?

I trained with DONA International, a leader in evidence-based doula training and certification. Currently, I am working towards my certification and am offering reduced rates to families for my full Labour and Birth Support Package. Additionally, I have an extensive background in childcare.

Do you support births in hospitals?

Yes!! Whether at a hospital, birth centre, or at home, I’m happy to provide support for you and your team.

If I hire you, can I text/call/facetime you?

Yes! Before 37 weeks I’m available morning, afternoon, and evening. After 37 weeks I’m considered on call for you and your partner, and you can reach out to me at any point, 24/7!

What are your tactics for pain management?

Managing discomfort is something that I love to help with! While I know a TON of comfort measures and techniques, the best expert for what measures work the best is YOU! Working together in our prenatal appointments, we will practice and go over as many comfort measures as we can to create a custom plan for your ideal labour experience. I supply the tools, you let me know what works for you!

What does doula support look like?

Doula support looks like: emotional support, advocacy, partner support, physical support, answering questions, comfort measures, providing evidence based research, birth prep, reassurance and motivation, providing assistance during labour, home prep, birth plan creation, documenting your journey, and more! Think wedding/event planner for birth!

How do you work with birth partners?

Doulas do not replace your birth partner, they work together! Providing physical and emotional support can be very taxing on the support person. When your partner needs to tap out or if you need more support, I’m there! My motto is “Your Birth Bestie” for a reason!
