Good day! I am searching for a midwife who is comfortable with the idea that the epidural is NOT an option for me. I am in general good health but have had a bad reaction to a numbing shot, that caused nerve damage and limited mobility in my left hand, causing it to be partially crippled. Because of the way my body responded to the numbing shot, I do not feel comfortable allowing the epidural in my spine under any circumstance at all. I have a deep desire for a natural birth (preferably at home or at a birthing center) but am more comfortable with a c section (with an anesthetic that is not an epidural) than having a drug that could potentially cripple me being shot up my spine. I understand paralysis from epidurals are rare, but I believe I am at a higher risk because of reactions in my past. I am not scared of birth and actually look forward to it. My biggest fear is an epidural being pushed on me and giving in because I am in the heat of the moment. I don't like the long term risks for both myself and the baby, I just don't want to play with fire. If it is possible, I would like a note to the hospital that I can not be given the epidural under any circumstance if I have to go to the hospital. On a side note, I am not yet pregnant but will be married soon and am currently doing research to decide what my birthing options are. I am super excited for pregnancy, labor, and motherhood, but terrified of the epidural being pushed on me. I know stress is not good in pregnancy and will feel very much relieved to know that the epidural will not be injected into my spinal cord. Thank you for taking the time to read my message and for dedicating your career towards helping mothers experience positive births. Positive births are something I wish on every expecting mother. I am currently very passionate about this! Sincerely, Ginger Wall

Kayla is looking for Postpartum Doula, Midwife
Location: Oklahoma City, OK 73128, USA
Due date or baby's birthday: February 21, 2025
I am new to oklahoma city, I just moved here in December and I am having a hard time finding anyone available to take me in their care on short notice. I do have Soonercare insurance so looking for a midwife and doula who can work with that insurance. This is my third child, however my daughters are older 13, and 8 and it has been a long time. Both were vaginal births with epidural. I am expecting a son in February, I want a vaginal birth in a hospital with the option of epidural and pain management. I'm new to the area so open to different hospitals although Mercy birth place would be preferable. My husband would like to be as involved and as hands on as possible with the birthing process also. I plan to breastfeed my baby and would like lactation support and assistance from a doula after birth. Please reach out to me if you think you could be a fit for us and I look forward to hearing from you!
