About Evelin

Hi! My name is Evelin Souza, and I am a Certified Postpartum Doula serving Walnut Creek and surrounding East Bay communities. I have been supporting mothers and newborns since becoming certified in 2021. Over the years, I have had the privilege of caring for many families and newborns, especially through overnight support, and I can provide excellent professional references. I would describe myself as calm, patient, nurturing, respectful, flexible, and professional. I believe every family is unique, so I always take the time to understand what is important to each parent and adapt my support to their individual needs, preferences, and parenting choices. I provide judgment-free support and want parents to feel comfortable and supported in my presence. During overnight care, my goal is to create a calm and peaceful environment where parents can rest and recover while knowing their baby is being cared for with love and attention. I have extensive experience with newborn care, feeding support, bottle feeding, soothing, diapering, burping, newborn cues, and helping parents better understand their baby’s needs and feel more confident as they navigate the newborn stage. I also support breastfeeding mothers within my scope as a postpartum doula while fully respecting every family’s feeding choices. I believe caring for the mother is just as important as caring for the baby. I am a good listener and provide a safe and compassionate space for mothers to talk, feel heard, and feel supported during the emotional transition into motherhood. When something is beyond my scope, I encourage families to connect with the appropriate professional support. I am also a Certified Massage Therapist specializing in lymphatic drainage, which has given me an even deeper appreciation for postpartum recovery and caring for mothers as a whole. Above all, I want the families I support to feel safe, respected, cared for, and more rested. It is very special to me to become a trusted part of a family’s support system during such an important chapter of their lives.

Overnight Postpartum & Newborn Care + Healthy Sleep Foundations

My overnight support is about caring for your baby and caring for you. The postpartum period can be beautiful, but it can also feel exhausting, emotional, and overwhelming. My goal is to bring a calm, reassuring presence into your home so you can rest, recover, and feel supported while knowing your baby is receiving attentive and loving care. Throughout the night, I support your baby with feeding, diapering, burping, soothing, settling, bottle preparation and cleaning, and other baby-related needs. For breastfeeding mothers, I can bring baby to you for feeds and take over afterward so you can return to sleep as quickly as possible. I also believe that a mother deserves to be cared for, not just expected to keep going. I’m there to listen, offer reassurance, help you feel more confident, and make those early weeks feel a little less overwhelming. I respect every family’s choices and provide support without judgment. Healthy sleep foundations are included in my overnight care at no additional cost. From the newborn stage, I gently encourage age-appropriate sleep habits while always prioritizing safe sleep, feeding needs, your baby’s development, and pediatrician guidance. As your baby grows, we can work toward longer, developmentally appropriate stretches of nighttime sleep. Many families I’ve supported have experienced meaningful improvements in their baby’s sleep throughout our time together. Every baby develops differently, and progress depends on your baby’s age, individual needs, and the length of our time together. Even with shorter contracts, I can provide personalized guidance and practical strategies for your family to continue. My hope is that when you wake up in the morning, you don’t just feel that your baby was well cared for — you feel more rested, supported, confident, and cared for too.

Overnight Postpartum & Newborn Care for Twins

Welcoming twins is incredibly special, but the early weeks can also be physically and emotionally demanding. My overnight support is designed to give parents the opportunity to rest and recover while both babies receive calm, attentive, and loving care. Support may include feeding, diapering, burping, soothing, settling, bottle preparation and cleaning, pump-part care, baby laundry, and keeping the babies’ space organized. I work with each baby’s individual needs while also helping your family develop a manageable nighttime rhythm. Healthy sleep foundations are included at no additional cost. As your babies grow, I gently encourage age-appropriate sleep habits and help work toward more coordinated and longer stretches of nighttime sleep, while always prioritizing safe sleep, feeding needs, development, and pediatrician guidance. I’m also there to care for you. My goal is for you to feel supported, heard, and confident — not simply to make it through the night. When morning comes, I want you to feel more rested and reassured knowing your babies were lovingly cared for. Rates for twins reflect the additional level of care and will be discussed based on your family’s needs, schedule, and length of support.

Frequently asked questions

What does overnight postpartum support look like?

My goal is to help you get the rest you need while knowing your baby is receiving attentive and loving care. Throughout the night, I can support feeding, diaper changes, burping, soothing, settling, bottle preparation and cleaning, and other baby-related needs. If you are breastfeeding, I can bring your baby to you for feeds and take over afterward so you can return to sleep as quickly as possible.

Will you support me if I am breastfeeding?

Absolutely. I support breastfeeding mothers within my scope as a postpartum doula and can help make nighttime feeds feel easier and less exhausting. I can bring your baby to you, assist with positioning and comfort, burp, change, soothe, and settle baby afterward. I also fully respect formula feeding, pumping, combination feeding, and every family’s individual feeding choices. My support is always judgment-free.

What if I decide not to breastfeed?

That is completely okay. My role is to support you, not to judge your feeding choices. Whether you choose breastfeeding, pumping, formula feeding, combination feeding, or decide that breastfeeding is simply not the right choice for you, you will receive the same compassionate and respectful support from me. I can help with bottle preparation, feeding, burping, cleaning and preparing bottles, and overnight feeds so you can get longer periods of uninterrupted rest. Most importantly, I want you to feel confident and supported in the decisions that are best for you, your baby, and your family. A well-supported mother matters, too.

Do you help babies develop healthy sleep habits?

Yes. Healthy sleep foundations are included in my overnight care at no additional cost. From the newborn stage, I gently encourage age-appropriate sleep habits while always prioritizing safe sleep, feeding needs, development, and your pediatrician’s guidance. As your baby grows, I can help your family work toward longer, developmentally appropriate stretches of nighttime sleep and provide strategies you can continue after our time together.

What is your approach to newborn care?

My approach is calm, gentle, responsive, and respectful of each baby’s individual needs. I pay close attention to newborn cues and support feeding, soothing, sleep, and comfort without forcing rigid routines. My goal is to help parents understand their baby’s signals and gradually feel more confident caring for their baby independently.

Will you also support me as a mother?

Yes — this is a very important part of my work. I believe postpartum care should care for the mother as much as it cares for the baby. I’m there to listen without judgment, offer reassurance, help you rest and recover, and support you as you gain confidence in this new chapter. If I notice that something may require additional professional support, I will gently encourage you to connect with the appropriate healthcare or mental health provider.

Will you respect the way we choose to parent our baby?

Always. Every family has different values, routines, cultures, feeding choices, and parenting preferences. My role is not to come into your home and tell you there is only one “right” way. I bring my experience and guidance while listening carefully to what matters to you. We work together to create support that feels comfortable and appropriate for your family.

Do you have experience supporting mothers emotionally during postpartum?

Yes. I understand that postpartum can bring many emotions alongside the joy of welcoming a baby. I have experience supporting mothers through emotionally challenging postpartum periods, and I provide a compassionate space where you can talk and feel heard without judgment. I stay within my professional scope and encourage additional professional support whenever appropriate.

What areas do you serve?

I primarily serve families in Walnut Creek and surrounding East Bay communities, including Lafayette, Orinda, Pleasant Hill, Concord, Alamo, Danville, San Ramon, Moraga, and nearby areas. I may also travel farther depending on the schedule and length of the contract.

How long should we book overnight postpartum support?

Every family’s needs are different. Some families want support during the first few weeks, while others prefer several months as their baby grows and routines begin to develop. Longer contracts allow me to support your family through more stages of newborn development and continue building healthy sleep foundations, but shorter-term support can also be incredibly valuable.
