This is my first baby. I am looking for a midwife who accepts medical but I am also open to paying out of pocket. I would prefer a woman of color as my midwife and want a home birth.

I am having my first baby and I’m hoping to do an unmedicated water birth with little intervention as possible. I’m hoping to get support for myself during this pregnancy and for my birth where I feel my OB isn’t fully able to assist. I currently plan on birthing at Mercy Folsom Hospital in Folsom CA in their birthing center. I’m not sure on budget as I am unsure what the range or scope looks like or where to even begin. I am really excited for this time and truly feel a midwife will add so much to this experience.

Planning a home birth (potentially water birth, but will do what will be comfortable). No drugs for pain management. Okay with essential oils and massage if necessary.

Plan to give birth at the hospital. Looking for a doula or midwife to be there in the hospital and also a lactation specialist as I plan to breastfeed. Not entirely sure how much everything cost but would like to stay on the cheaper side of the budget.

I am also looking for someone who could possibly bring the birthing set up with them for the home birth if that's possible. I just found out a couple weeks ago that I was pregnant so I am early to the game but just trying to understand how this might look doing a homebirth. I guesss budget wise.. I would like to keep the cost under 2k if I can utilize insurance as well.

This is our 2nd baby and we didn't have the best experience in the hospital during our first birth in 2019. Now that I'm pregnant at 40, we're looking for more of a natural experience, with less of the trauma. We have found a doula through this site and are now looking for a midwife to assist with home birthing. We're completely new to this idea, but are very open to it. My medical insurance is through Medi-Cal, specifically Anthem Blue Cross. I've noticed that providers within your company accept it, I'm just not sure to what extent considering this is my first time looking into this option.
