The cost of a lactation consultant in Friendswood, TX can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Certification

International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) typically charge more than Certified Lactation Counselors (CLCs) due to their advanced training and ability to handle complex breastfeeding issues.

  • Visit Type

In-home visits generally cost more than office visits or virtual consultations. Many consultants in Friendswood offer telehealth options at reduced rates.

  • Insurance Coverage

Whether insurance covers the cost of a lactation consultant in Friendswood, TX, depends on your specific insurance plan and provider. Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), many health insurance plans are required to cover breastfeeding support and counseling, which may include lactation consultant services, without cost-sharing. However, coverage can vary, so it’s important to check with your insurance provider to confirm if lactation consultant services are included, whether they need to be provided by an in-network consultant, and if a referral is required. Additionally, some consultants may provide documentation for reimbursement if they are not directly covered.

  • Number of Sessions

Some consultants offer package deals for multiple sessions, which can be more cost-effective than paying per visit, especially for ongoing breastfeeding challenges.

  • HSA and FSA Eligibility

Lactation consulting is an IRS-eligible medical expense, meaning you can use HSA or FSA funds to cover the cost without paying taxes on those dollars.

  • Experience and Specialization

Consultants with specialized expertise in areas like tongue ties, premature infant feeding, or relactation may charge higher rates.

When looking for a lactation consultant in Friendswood, TX, it's a good idea to check with your insurance provider first, as many plans cover lactation services. Interview several consultants to find one who fits your needs and budget, and ask about their specific credentials, experience, and what each session includes.

When I had my second baby, I thought breastfeeding would be easy because with my first child it wasn’t so difficult but I was in for a surprise. It was actually harder and painful. Talking with Arinola really helped me to overcome some of the obstacles that I had especially at a time time when I didn’t even think I’ll be able to breastfeed again because I had to pump exclusively for a while. Arinola was so helpful, teaching me how to use my breast pump properly and how to improve my milk supply. I literally saw my milk supply increase in real time after my supply had dipped - thanks to Arinola. I remember that joyful feeling of seeing all the milk I had produced. One thing I really liked about working with Arinola is that I never felt judged. She listened to me and I was very comfortable sharing my concerns and needs. She never once questioned my goals and there was no ounce of judgement from her which is so important when moms are in a very vulnerable space after having a baby. I definitely recommend Arinola to anyone who needs help with nursing or pumping. She is awesome. She really helped me reach my goal of nursing my child and I’m still nursing him. Thank you.

My approach is holistic but realistic — I look at the whole picture while meeting you exactly where you are. As part of my services, I support families prenatally and postpartum. This includes: Prenatal sessions to discuss your birth goals and history, cover birth education, and practice mental and physical exercises tailored to you. Birth support, including attending your birth and assisting with your first nursing session. Postpartum support at home as a Lactation Counselor to help with breastfeeding and adjustment. I’d love the opportunity to support you on this

Recent review

Hanna was my doula for the birth of my second child and I can’t say enough good things about her. She took the time to listen to my history, my goals, anxieties/worries, as well as my expectations of her as my doula. During our meetings, she always provided lots of helpful information regarding exercises that can help my discomforts during pregnancy, meditation, labor positions, ways my husband can help me throughout pregnancy as well as during contractions, etc. All of this helped me prepare mentally, physically and emotionally for the big day. Most importantly, her calm and grounding presence and the emotional support she provided during labor was so helpful in keeping me and my husband stay focused and motivated while feeling safe and supported. Thanks to Hanna, I had a very positive birth experience and I was able to give birth to a healthy baby girl! She continues to follow up with me regarding breastfeeding which is helpful. Hanna truly cares about her clients I would without a doubt recommend her to anyone looking for a doula!

Hey there radiant moms and families! 🥰 I’m Jennifer, a passionate Maternal-Child Health advocate with over two decades as a Registered Nurse and Community Health Educator. My journey began in New Orleans where I graduated from LSU Health Sciences Center’s School of Nursing. My love for Maternal-Child Health truly blossomed after witnessing a Midwife-assisted delivery while in nursing school. From an RN at The Birthing Place at Tulane University Hospital and Clinic, to volunteering post-Hurricane Katrina, and moving to Houston pregnant with my twins, my passion for supporting moms intensified during my tenure at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas. I soon realized teaching was my calling. 🍎 As a Certified Childbirth Educator, teaching an array of topics from Infant CPR to Marvelous Multiples, I specialize in empowering parents. And my own NICU journey with my preterm twins fueled my commitment to lactation support. In 2014, I became a Certified Lactation Counselor, and soon after, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Contributing to The Woman’s Hospital of Texas becoming the first Baby-Friendly Hospital in Houston is a badge of honor for me. My heart is with the fierce moms and their tiny NICU warriors. With my professional and personal expertise, I was pleased to bring my passion to my community by leading the opening of Memorial Hermann Pearland Hospital’s Lactation and Perinatal Education Departments. Come 2022, I joined the fantastic Bayou City Breastfeeding crew! Now, from our Webster and West NASA Offices to your cozy homes, I'm here for you. 🏡 Outside of work, I cherish time in Pearland with my husband and four children, engage in my church’s Women’s Ministry, and daydream about sandy beaches. Ready to embark on this journey together? Let’s make your breastfeeding experience memorable! 💜 Remember, together, we've got this! 🤱🏻🌸

My approach to lactation support is holistic and biological, and tailored to each family's unique needs. I understand that no two breastfeeding journeys are the same, and I strive to determine the root cause of any difficulties. My goal is to help your family meet your breastfeeding goals and empower you throughout your journey with excellent support, care, and education. One of my greatest joys is seeing the bond created between the infant and the breastfeeding parent. Watching infants thrive and develop is incredibly rewarding for me, and I find parental empowerment equally fulfilling. I also believe that other family members, such as partners and grandparents, play a vital role in the breastfeeding journey. They are a crucial part of the support network and help the breastfeeding parent achieve their goals. My support is structured to meet the unique needs of each family. If a mother feels uncertain or overwhelmed about breastfeeding, I take several steps: praising her accomplishments, actively listening to her concerns, assessing the dyad, discussing any changes in breastfeeding goals, and creating or modifying the Plan of Care. I often recommend techniques like "skin to skin Baby-Moons" which include baby-led/cue based feeding and laid-back biological breastfeeding. This method allows the baby to explore and be in control, fostering a natural and comfortable breastfeeding experience. My current areas of study and interest as an IBCLC include microbiome seeding/ gut health and bottle refusal.

Hello! I'm Tania Nuezca, and one of my passions is supporting families through their incredible journey of parenthood, particularly in the realms of childbirth education and lactation support. I would like to share my background and a little bit about myself. With over a decade of experience as a childbirth educator, I've dedicated myself to helping families navigate the exciting yet challenging transition into parenthood. Along the way, I've taken additional classes to hone my skills, delving into topics like spinning babies, rebozo use during pregnancy and labor, bengkung belly binding, and neonatal resuscitation. It's all part of my commitment to offering comprehensive support to families during this transformative time. Based in Humble, Atascocita, and Kingwood, I'm here for families in these areas and also travel out to Houston to support families, offering both in-person and virtual visits. Whether it's convenient for you to have a home, office, or virtual consultation, I'm here to provide the guidance and support families need. Beyond my childbirth education background, I'm an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). My journey to becoming an IBCLC was inspired by my own experiences struggling with breastfeeding my three children. Through my own challenges, I developed a deep empathy for families facing similar struggles and a strong desire to provide them with the support they need from the very beginning. With a holistic approach to lactation support, I believe in addressing the needs of the whole person. I find immense reward in helping families feel empowered and confident in their feeding choices, knowing that they have the knowledge and support to nurture their little ones. Outside of my professional role, I cherish spending time with my family and friends, exploring the outdoors, and embarking on adventures. One of my biggest passions is learning sign language for my two deaf children and to support the broader D/deaf community, from pregnancy to lactation. My current skill level is conversational sign but am working on fluency and medical terminology. When it comes to supporting breastfeeding families, I recognize the importance of involving other family members, such as partners and grandparents, in the journey. Their support is invaluable in bolstering parents' confidence and empowerment. As a mom of two children with a rare genetic condition, I've spent many hours researching. I also use this determination when supporting new families. I enjoy researching to find the right answer for you. I tailor my support to meet the unique needs and preferences of each family by starting with open communication and truly listening to their concerns. When a mother is feeling uncertain or overwhelmed about breastfeeding, I provide a compassionate ear and work with them to develop a plan that aligns with their wishes and makes them feel empowered. I often recommend techniques like baby-led latch and laid-back breastfeeding, as I've seen firsthand how these methods can help babies achieve a successful latch and make the breastfeeding journey smoother for both parents and infants. In essence, I'm here to offer compassionate, personalized support to families as they embark on the extraordinary adventure of parenthood. If you're in need of guidance or encouragement along the way, I'm just a message away. Let's navigate this journey together!

My journey began in 2003 with the foundation of Merry-Go-Round in Kingwood, a haven for moms seeking both community and lactation guidance. By 2014, I was instrumental in establishing a breastfeeding-friendly environment at The Woman's Hospital of Texas. Shortly after, I teamed up with Dr. James Liu, known for his expertise in addressing oral restrictions. Recognizing the need for more tailored support, Bayou City Breastfeeding was born in 2016. We passionately believe in empowering parents, firmly holding that they are the true experts on their children. In today's often confusing landscape of parenting advice, we bridge the gap. Professionally, I stared out as a Certified Lactation Counselor and achieved the gold standard International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant certification in 2014. I value contnuing education and have pursued additional training in numerous areas related to breastfeeding and infant feeding. Presently, I'm honored to serve as President of HALCEA, nurturing growth in the lactation community. On a personal note, I'm privileged to celebrate 24+ years of marriage and the joy of parenting.
