What can I expect when I hire you?

You can expect nurturing, professional, and individualized support for both your newborn and your family. My approach combines hands-on newborn care, evidence-based education, and postpartum support tailored to your family’s needs, preferences, and goals. My goal is to help you feel supported, well-rested, and increasingly confident as you adjust to life with your baby.

What is the difference between a Newborn Care Specialist and a Postpartum Doula?

As a Newborn Care Specialist, my primary focus is your baby’s care, including feeding support, soothing, sleep foundations, routines, and newborn education. As a Postpartum Doula, I take a broader whole-family approach by also supporting parents throughout the postpartum transition. My training in both allows me to tailor care based on what your family needs most.

What does overnight newborn support look like?

Overnight care is designed to help parents get much-needed rest while knowing their baby is being attentively cared for. Depending on your feeding preferences, I can manage bottles, diaper changes, burping, soothing, settling, newborn-related cleanup, and overnight care while maintaining a detailed log of your baby’s night. For nursing families, I can bring your baby to you for feeds and take over afterward so you can return to rest.

Do you provide daytime and overnight support?

Yes. I offer both daytime postpartum and newborn support and overnight newborn care, depending on availability. Each shift can be tailored around where your family needs the most support, whether that means hands-on newborn care, parent education, recovery support, establishing routines, or simply giving you time to rest.

Will you take over, or will you teach us how to care for our baby?

Both, depending on what you need. There may be times when your greatest need is uninterrupted rest and I take the lead on newborn care. At other times, I can work alongside you by demonstrating techniques, answering questions, and helping you better understand your baby’s cues and routines. My goal is to provide relief while also helping you build confidence as a parent.

Do you work with first-time parents?

Absolutely. I especially enjoy helping first-time parents understand their baby’s cues, feeding and sleep patterns, newborn behavior, and everyday care. My role is not simply to care for your baby, but also to provide education and guidance so you feel increasingly confident caring for your newborn independently.

Do you follow a specific newborn routine or sleep method?

I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I consider your baby’s age, development, feeding needs, temperament, and your family’s goals when establishing healthy routines and sleep foundations. Recommendations are developmentally appropriate and centered around current safe newborn care practices.

Can you support my preferred feeding method?

Absolutely. I support breastfeeding, expressed breast milk, formula, combination feeding, and pumping families without judgment. For overnight breastfeeding support, I can bring your baby to you for nursing and then take over burping, diapering, soothing, and settling afterward so you can return to rest. Care is always adapted around your feeding preferences and your baby’s established feeding plan.

How long do families typically work with you?

Support is customized rather than limited to one standard timeline. Many families receive care during the fourth trimester, while others may need a shorter transition period or extended support as their baby grows. During your consultation, we can determine a schedule and duration that best support your family’s needs and goals.

How far in advance should I book?

Families are encouraged to inquire during pregnancy, particularly when seeking consistent overnight or postpartum support. Booking early gives us time to discuss your goals, anticipated schedule, and estimated due date while increasing the likelihood that your preferred dates will be available.

What happens if my baby arrives earlier or later than expected?

Babies do not always arrive according to schedule, and that is completely normal. Contracts are structured around an anticipated start period surrounding your estimated due date. We’ll remain in communication as your delivery approaches and adjust the start of care according to the terms established in your agreement and my availability.

Do you provide occasional, short-term, or backup newborn care?

Yes, when my schedule allows. I accept select short-term, temporary, and backup newborn care requests in addition to contracted support. Availability, rates, and minimum booking requirements may differ for occasional or short-term services.

How does booking and payment work?

We’ll begin with a consultation to discuss your family’s needs, goals, anticipated schedule, and the type of support you’re looking for. If we’re a good fit, I’ll provide a service agreement outlining your schedule, scope of support, rates, retainer and payment schedule, and applicable policies. Your dates are officially reserved once the required agreement and retainer have been completed.
