Hi, my name is Iyonna and I’m a postpartum doula based in the DMV area. My philosophy is that mothers deserve to be nurtured, supported, and cared for during the fourth trimester. I believe the postpartum period is a time for healing, rest, and adjustment, and no mother should feel like she has to navigate it alone. I support families by helping them prepare for postpartum, adjust to life with a newborn, and feel emotionally supported during the early weeks after birth. My approach focuses on creating a calm and nurturing environment through practical support, gentle guidance, and encouragement so mothers can rest, heal, and build confidence in this new season of motherhood.

Overnight in-home support for up to 8–10 hours Emotional support and practical help during nighttime hours Guidance on newborn sleep, safe co-sleeping practices, and rest strategies for parents Helps parents catch up on rest and feel supported during long nights Please note: I am not a nanny or babysitter; this support focuses on postpartum recovery and family adjustment.

What to expect

I support parents through the early weeks with baby so it feels calmer and more manageable. I offer Postpartum Preparation Sessions ($150) to help you set up your home, organize baby areas, and create a personalized Postpartum Recovery Plan. I also provide in-home postpartum doula care ($40/hour daytime, $45/hour overnight) for emotional support, newborn guidance, and practical help. My goal is to help you rest, recover, and feel confident as you adjust to parenthood.

Check-ins are 15–20 minutes long and can be done virtually. They’re meant to help you review your recovery plan, troubleshoot challenges, and answer questions as you navigate the early weeks.

What exactly does a postpartum doula do?

I support parents during the early weeks after birth with emotional guidance, newborn care support, and practical help around recovery and routines. I help you feel confident, rested, and prepared, not by babysitting your baby, but by supporting YOU as the parent.

Is this a nanny or babysitting service?

No, I am not a nanny or babysitter. My role focuses on postpartum recovery, emotional support, and guidance for you and your newborn. I help you learn strategies, build routines, and care for yourself while you care for your baby.

How long are your sessions?

Postpartum Preparation Sessions are 60–90 minutes. In-home postpartum support is scheduled hourly, daytime support is $40/hour and overnight support is $45/hour.

How soon after birth can I book postpartum support?

I start supporting families immediately after birth, during the early weeks when adjustment and recovery are most crucial. If you would like to build a relationship before baby, i have no problem with starting support sooner.

Can I customize the support?

Absolutely! Every family is different. Together we’ll design the support that fits your needs, whether it’s emotional guidance, newborn adjustment, or practical household help (within the postpartum doula scope).
