As a Trauma-Informed Responsive Doula and Childbirth Educator, I provide holistic, compassionate care to individuals and families throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. My work centers on creating safe, empowering, and healing experiences for those who have been impacted by trauma, helping them navigate the perinatal journey with dignity, confidence, and support of their mental health and well-being for a successful pregnancy journey. I approach each client relationship with deep respect for their lived experience and autonomy, integrating trauma-informed and responsive principles of safety, trust, empowerment, collaboration, and cultural responsiveness. From the first prenatal session through postpartum recovery, I focus on identifying emotional triggers, fostering body awareness, and supporting informed decision-making. I help clients develop personalized antepartum, birth and postpartum care plans that emphasize consent, comfort, and self-advocacy that honors their voice and their birth story. My professional practice is grounded in continuous learning and reflection. I regularly pursue advanced training in maternal care, trauma-informed and responsive care, reproductive justice and perinatal mental health to remain current with best practices and to strengthen the quality of support I offer. By integrating both advocacy and education, I aim to break cycles of intergenerational trauma and promote emotional resilience for every family I serve.

Compassionate, in-person support in labor and delivery for families who just desire presence during birth. Includes a virtual "meet & connect" prenatal visit (up to one hour), 24/7 on-call phone, email and text access beginning at 37 weeks, up to 12 consecutive hours of labor and birth support (when in active labor and delivery) for the mother and her chosen birth partner and up to one hour of immediate postpartum presence following The Golden Hour. Prayer for the mother, partner and baby is available with consent. Birth planning, childbirth education, additional visits, extended labor support and travel outside the primary service area are priced separately.
Expanded pregnancy and birth support for families who want more preparation and continuity than the Birth Only Presence package provides. Includes a one-hour virtual "meet & connect" intake and two (2) in-person prenatal visits scheduled according to the family’s needs, with the second visit taking place at approximately 36 weeks. Visits may include birth preferences, comfort measures, partner preparation, questions for the care team and postpartum planning. Beginning at 37 weeks, the family receives 24/7 on-call phone, email and text access. Birth care includes up to 12 consecutive hours of in-person labor and delivery support (while in active labor) for the mother and her chosen birth partner and up to one hour of immediate postpartum presence following "The Golden Hour". The package concludes with one (1) additional postpartum visit approximately six weeks after the family returns home. Virtual support via email, text or phone is provided until six weeks postpartum. Prayer and Scripture-based encouragement are available with consent. Childbirth education, additional visits, extended labor support, postpartum care shifts and travel outside the primary service area are priced separately.
Continuity of care for families who want support throughout pregnancy, labor, birth and the transition home. Includes a one-hour virtual "meet & connect" intake and three (3) in-person prenatal visits scheduled around pregnancy milestones, with the final prenatal visit taking place at approximately 36 weeks. Visits may address pregnancy changes, birth preferences, comfort measures, partner preparation, informed questions for the care team and postpartum planning. Beginning at 37 weeks, the family receives 24/7 on-call phone, email and text access. Birth care includes up to 12 consecutive hours of in-person labor and delivery support (while in active labor) for mother and her chosen birth partner and up to one hour of immediate postpartum presence following The Golden Hour. The package concludes with two (2) additional postpartum visits approximately six weeks after the family returns home and another visit twelve weeks postpartum. Virtual support via email, text or phone is provided until twelve weeks postpartum. Prayer and Scripture-based encouragement are available with consent. Additional visits, extended labor support, postpartum shifts and travel outside the primary service area are priced separately.
Pregnancy support for mothers who want someone steady beside them between prenatal appointments or added support while navigating a high-risk pregnancy. Each one-hour in-person session can focus on what she is experiencing, questions to take to her care team, practical nutrition and hydration rhythms, pregnancy milestones, comfort and grounding practices, helping her partner support her day-to-day, postpartum planning or useful community resources. Antepartum support can also help a mother and her family adjust to activity restrictions, frequent appointments, changing birth plans or an extended hospital stay. Prayer and Scripture-based encouragement are available with consent.
Daytime support after the baby arrives that is shaped around what will help the mother recover and the family settle into life at home. Support may include holding or soothing the baby while the mother sleeps, showers or eats; changing diapers; helping the family settle into its chosen feeding routine; preparing simple snacks and drinks; helping the partner share day-to-day care; and making a practical plan for rest and recovery. Time can also be used to talk through the birth experience, notice when additional support may be helpful and connect the family with trusted resources. Prayer and Scripture-based encouragement are available with consent. Minimum block of 4 hours. 6-hour daytime shift is available by request for $500.
An eight-hour overnight shift for families who want support through feedings and settling while allowing the doula to rest when the mother and baby are settled. During waking periods, care may include bringing the baby to the mother for feeding, changing diapers, soothing the baby after feeding, helping with bottle or pumping setup and keeping water or a simple snack nearby. Exact responsibilities and shift hours are confirmed in the care agreement. This rest-permitted package does not include continuous, fully awake newborn care. Prayer and Scripture-based encouragement are available with consent.

Pricing begins with the Birth Presence package as the foundation ($800) with additional cost per added service. Priced by the services you choose.
Doula care does not begin and end in the delivery room. Sojourner Doula Care provides trauma-informed, whole-person support throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Services include high-risk pregnancy support, birth planning, labor coaching, childbirth education, postpartum care and planning, NICU and bereavement support, as well as perinatal mental health peer support. Each family receives professional, non-medical care shaped around their needs, values and informed choices with prayer and Scripture offered by consent.

I met Kristan by chance at a prenatal appointment to see my ob and she was the most caring, knowledgeable person that I had ever met. She attended my birth, although the office visit was our only in-person encounter. She understood what I needed, prayed for me and my baby and stayed with us because we had no one else.
