Dominique Jones is an urban mom of three young girls, a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, DONA Certified Birth Doula, and Certified Breastfeeding Specialist, and the founder of M.A.M.A. Mom’s Advocate & Maternal Advisor. With both professional training and lived experience, Dominique provides full-spectrum, holistic support throughout the childbirth continuum—from pregnancy through postpartum recovery. She has supported families across a variety of birth settings and brings a calm, knowledgeable presence to every birth space. As a mother who has experienced two unmedicated hospital births and one homebirth, Dominique understands firsthand the physical, emotional, and informational support families need to feel confident and prepared. She is especially passionate about supporting families planning physiologic or unmedicated births and helping parents feel informed and empowered throughout their journey. Through her agency, families receive thoughtfully matched, vetted doulas and a supportive care team, ensuring reliable, compassionate support throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Dominique also founded the M.A.M.A. Community Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to maternal health education and community support programs across the Washington DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia (DMV) area. Her mission is simple: to help families have safe, peaceful, and joyous birth experiences while feeling informed, respected, and supported every step of the way.

M.A.M.A. supports all birth choices and is educated and trained to help expecting mothers and families have their dream birth experiences. We meet with families before, during and after labor. Before labor, we provide information on birthing options and assist with the creation of birth plans. During labor, we help execute birth plans while providing continuous emotional support, reassurance, and coaching for birth partners as they provide physical comfort to the laboring woman. After labor, we connect with families to ensure their transition to parenthood is off to a good start. We recommend clients book our services between 23-26 weeks. Our services include: ✔ Three (3) prenatal visits to discuss your birth plan, comfort measures and partner preparation. ✔ Continuous labor support ✔ One (1) postpartum visit ✔ Unlimited consultation from date of hire through your postpartum visit, to be scheduled within 40 days following birth
M.A.M.A. understands that society often talks alot about birth but not much about the postpartum experience. New mothers are often uncertain about how to care for themselves and manage their recovery yet alone take care of their tiny precious babies. But, that does not have to be your reality. We are educated and trained to provide compassionate care to mothers and their partners as they transition into their roles as parents. As with our birth doula services, we provide emotional support, information and personalized practical strategies for families during their postpartum experiences. We are available for services as early and as long as needed. We offer a package of 12 hours for $680*, to include: one prenatal planning visit and three 4-hour postpartum visits. From time of hire throughout the end of the contract period families will also receive unlimited text and email support. Al la cart hours are also offered at an hourly rate of $65* per hour. *Additional fees may apply based on distance and number of children in the household requiring care. M.A.M.A. knows that many women struggle to meet their breastfeeding goals and is here to help. We are educated not only on the benefits of breastfeeding for both mom and baby but on how to breastfeed successfully. Our trained and experienced staff can offer mothers and families emotional, informational and personalized practical advice to help them achieve their breastfeeding goals. Sessions last 45 mins to 1 hour. Mom’s Advocate and Maternal Advisor (M.A.M.A.) offers families in the DC area in-person services and those outside of this geographical area virtual prenatal and postpartum services, to include: -childbirth education -birth planning -birth doula support -postpartum planning -postpartum doula support -lactation and infant feeding consultations -newborn care consultations

As a 1st time mother, I initially embarked on this journey nervous. This it was crucial to seek out the support of a Doula. Where do I begin? Dominique is exceptional, she is truly a God send! During the birth of my daughter on May 5, 2024, she was with me every step of the way keeping me calm. From the time my contractions began until delivery Dominique kept me calm and focused. She was so organized in the way that she helped structure my birthing plan and my postpartum plans. Every time we met she was so pleasant, calm, and reassuring. I felt so supported by her! She was not only a support to me but to my partner as well! We are both first-time parents and every time we spoke with her, we left feeling more confident about delivery. I’m so glad we engaged Dominique to support us before, during, and after my sons delivery. I went into labor three weeks before my due date and ended up having an unplanned C section, but my experience was still so positive thanks to Dominique’s support. She advocated for me and made sure the medical professionals took the time to explain what was happening and why, which helped me feel safe and supported through the whole experience. She managed communications with our families, made sure my husband had food, and coached me through labor until we decided to go to the C section. After my son was born, she helped me breastfeed as soon as possible and helped us to be successful at that. She was a great resource for the weeks following my sons birth, and it was so reassuring to be able to reach out with all the crazy questions we had as new parents and have her take us seriously and share useful strategies and tips. Choosing Dominque as our doula has made a tremendous difference in our experience as first-time parents. I initially looked into hiring a doula to help during the birth process because I was really nervous about it. Having Dominique there for the birth was extremely helpful, but the experience was so much more than just the birth! During my pregnancy, she gave us so much useful information that we would not have found on our own. She patiently answered all of our questions and provided evidence-based support for her answers. I felt empowered and reassured by this knowledge, and I entered the hospital feeling much more calm and confident than I had expected to be. At the birth, Dominique was a steadying presence, a constant companion, and a powerful advocate. She reminded me throughout the process to breathe, relax, and hydrate. She helped me into different positions and encouraged me to try natural remedies. At the same time, she was 100% supportive of what I wanted and did not try to push me one way or another as I considered various interventions. After the baby was born, Dominique helped me feed her for the first time and stayed with us until we were settled in the postpartum room. Perhaps the single most valuable part of working with Dominique has been the ability to ask her questions in the weeks after giving birth. She gave me a pep talk when I was nervous to take the baby home, she took our call late the first night when we were concerned about swaddling properly, she made us a video addressing our diapering issues, she helped me create a schedule to resolve my breastfeeding pain… the list goes on and on. Honestly, I don’t know where we’d be without her. I cannot recommend Dominique enough!

When you’re looking for a Doula, as a new mom, or just any mom in general, you need that extra care. I feel as though from my experience Dom became my fairy godmother. She exceeded my expectations. Even though I have my husband and my family by my side, I really do appreciate the fact that Dom was there. My family was my foundation, but Dom what’s the pillar that I need to hold everything together and up. All the informative stuff that we worked on together during my process of my post care was phenomenal. I really do appreciate the fact that I had so many questions and she was always there to answer my call whether it was zoom or when she came over Looking back at how everything went down I would not change anything. I remember thinking the night that I had my son I felt like I could not do anything. I felt alone even though I had everybody there when Dom finally showed up for me I felt like I was in a safe place. I felt like I can do this. I was happy that I deliver it a beautiful baby boy and 9 lbs. 6 oz., 22 inches long naturally. Services didn’t stop there. She also has been checking in on me to this day and my son is seven months old. I really do appreciate, and I truly am thankful of all the help that she provided all the necessary steps that we took together that made everything became Smooth. Oh, and the girl can cook. I really do appreciate the soups and the meals with the program that she gave because it is necessary for your body to have nutritional Foods to help you and your baby. My husband and I were blessed to find Dominique as our doula. She guided us through every step of the pregnancy and was exceptional during delivery. Dominique helped me labor through one of the hardest yet empowering days of my life. For those of you who are looking for an exceptional doula, look no further. I was fortunate to be connected to Ms. Dominique Jones for the birth of my second child. From our initial consultation, I knew that I wanted Ms. Jones to be our Doula. Her incredible professionalism and her amazing ability to really listen to her client's needs and desires while also demonstrating her extensive experience by offering her guidance and expertise to ensure the most positive birthing experience, I'm so glad I trusted my gut instincts to chose her as my Doula. Ironically, due to the ever-evolving COVID situation (thanks, Omicron!) and constantly-changing COVID policies at the hospital, Ms. Jones was held back from entering the delivery room until the hospital could confirm my negative COVID test. That, in addition to the fact that my second child decided to make her debut into this world quite quickly, I was not able to have Ms. Jones by my side for the actual delivery. However, it did not take-away from the tremendous value she brought to my overall birthing experience as my Doula. Without fail, she constantly and regularly offered her support and guidance leading up to, during and after the birth. She always made herself available and was quick to respond to my text messages and phone calls, not to mention the fact that she rushed to the hospital (at 3am!) during a major winter storm to be by my side. Following the delivery, Ms. Jones truly went above and beyond to facilitate a smooth transition for me and my family. From her incredible home-cooked meals, and bringing an array of healthy, nutritious snacks, to conducting a thorough post-partum consultation, Ms. Jones brings a whole new level and meaning of what it means to be a remarkable and dedicated Doula!
