About Jessi

Hi! My name is Jessi Kinsman, and I am a registered nurse and certified lactation counselor! I live in Colorado Springs but do home visits with my clients so you never need to leave the comfort of your own home! My motto is to do what keeps you sane, and that includes helping you reach YOUR goals, whether that’s with breastfeeding, bottle feeding, pumping, or a mix of all of the above! I am here to come alongside and support you on this beautiful and sometimes overwhelming journey. I have a background in nursing and decided to pursue lactation education and certification to add to my RN license to better prepare me to help you! I have a huge heart for women and families in this season of life, and my desire is to make it a time you can truly cherish. When I’m not helping mamas and their babies find their groove, I keep busy homeschooling and spending time outside with our 3 kids, and balancing all that time in nature with some family video games and movie nights. ;)

Initial Home Visit

This is a 90-minute in home visit so I can meet you and hear your goals, and then help you make a plan to meet those goals!

$125 USD · Flat rate

Follow-Up In Home Visit

Sometimes it takes more than one visit to meet your goals! All my follow up visits are 60 minutes long and we can do as many as you need until you feel comfortable and confident!

$75 USD · Flat rate

Weight Check

If you’re just wanting some peace of mind for how your baby’s weight is looking on their growth curve, this 30-minute in home visit is for you!

$50 USD · Flat rate

What to expect

My introductory visit with my clients is a 90-minute in home visit where we can assess latch, do a weighted feed to see exactly how much milk baby is getting, and address any concerns or questions you may have about your baby’s weight and feeding. Any additional visits needed are a 60-minute in home visit. I want you to feel comfortable and confident after my visit with you! I do not bill insurance directly, but I do provide my clients with superbills to submit to their insurance for reimbursement!

Jessi was a great help in my first few months of breastfeeding my second baby! She is a wealth of knowledge and gave me so many tips to encourage a good latch. She suspected mouth & tongue ties and referred us to a specialist— it turns out he had pretty severe lip, cheek & tongue ties. We had them revised and it changed our breastfeeding journey for the better! I’m so thankful Jessi was able to notice them and refer us to someone who could help.

Jessi is the best lactation consultant! She comes to your home where you are comfortable. She will assess your little ones latch and do weighed feedings. She makes you feel confident in your breastfeeding journey. She is personable and kind. she is amazing! She helped me find the issues my baby was having and was able to help me fix them! My baby is over a year now and since seeing Jessi he has been a champion breastfeeder!

Frequently asked questions

Is a lactation counselor different than a lactation consultant?

Yes! My scope of practice as a CLC doesn’t cover as much as an IBCLC’s, so I consider my services a great first step if you’re having some breastfeeding or feeding issues with your baby! My RN license also gives me another level of assessment that is invaluable to the services I provide! If needed, I have additional resources to refer you to.

Do you have personal breastfeeding experience?

Yes! I breastfed both my boys until they self weaned, each around one year old. I also relactated in order to breastfeed our adopted baby daughter! I am grateful to say I had overall wonderful breastfeeding experiences, although not without any troubles (clogged ducts, low weight gain, and sooooo many questions and concerns I learned to address along the way!)

What interested you in pursuing lactation?

As a nurse, I worked on a cardiac step down unit (read: absolutely nowhere close to birth or breastfeeding). After getting pregnant and giving birth to our first son, I fell in love with how amazing our bodies were created to be to help create and nourish life! Also seeing so many of my friends and family struggle with breastfeeding and have terrible experiences, I had a desire to help in a tangible way.

Would you consider yourself a crunchy pro-breastfeeder?

I like to consider myself “scrunchy.” I obviously believe breastfeeding and breastmilk have SO many amazing benefits, and in an ideal world I think everyone should at least have the opportunity to try breastfeeding! But, we don’t live in an ideal world! I know everyone’s goals and beliefs can be different, so I always encourage my clients to find what THEY want for THEIR baby, and then work to reach those goals! I’m here to help however I can. =]
