Lesley Hodges

My name is Lesley Hodges, and I am a certified birth and postpartum doula with a genuine passion for supporting families through one of life’s most transformative experiences. I believe every parent deserves compassionate, respectful, and individualized care throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum journey. My passion for doula work began long before I earned my certification. Supporting my sister throughout her pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum recovery, as well as caring for friends during their pregnancies and helping with newborn care, showed me the incredible impact that consistent support can have on growing families. Those experiences inspired me to become a certified doula so I could provide that same level of encouragement, advocacy, and education to others. I am known for my warm, bubbly personality and my ability to help people feel seen, heard, and cared for. I strive to create a calm, judgment-free environment where families feel confident, informed, and empowered to make the best decisions for themselves and their babies. Along with my birth and postpartum doula certification, I also hold CPR and newborn care certifications, which strengthen my ability to provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based support. Becoming a doula is more than a career for me it’s a calling. My goal is to ensure every family I serve feels supported, respected, and never alone during this special chapter of their lives. I am honored to walk alongside parents as they welcome their newest family member and look forward to making a meaningful difference in their birth and postpartum experience.

Hi, I’m England, founder of Womb + Root Wellness. 🌿 I’m a mother of three, full spectrum doula, lactation consultant, herbalist, and Reiki Master. My journey into birth work started long before I became a mother. I found myself naturally supporting and advocating for other mothers, while also navigating my own reproductive health journey. For years, I struggled with endometriosis without a diagnosis. As a Black woman, I experienced firsthand what it feels like to have your pain dismissed, your health overlooked, and your voice unheard within the healthcare system. I also watched the women closest to me including my mother and sister experience traumatic births and a lack of the care, information, and respect for autonomy they deserved. When I became pregnant and had my own children, I became my own doula. I learned how powerful it is to understand your body, know your rights, trust your intuition, and have someone in your corner. Those experiences became my purpose. I created Womb + Root Wellness to be part of the change—especially within Black and Brown birthing communities. My work is rooted in education, advocacy, holistic care, nourishment, and empowerment, helping mothers feel informed, respected, supported, and heard throughout pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and beyond. Your body. Your birth. Your voice. Your autonomy. 🤎🌿

She is an amazing doula! Very supportive and my favorite was the knowledge she gave me. I always felt confident in the care she provided because she educated me to the point where I understood what was going on within me, and what I can do to fix it. She was AMAZING in labor, very calming and I’m glad she was there. I wouldn’t have had the birthing experience I did without her.

I chose Nicole late in my pregnancy after hoping for an unmedicated birth. From our first call, I felt heard and supported. Throughout my third trimester, she provided research-backed information, reassurance, and confidence, especially when I went overdue. During my six-hour labor, she supported both me and my husband every step of the way. I delivered an 11 lb 10 oz baby vaginally and completely unmedicated. After a discouraging first birth experience, Nicole helped me leave my second delivery feeling empowered, capable, and incredibly proud.

We had Destiny as our doula for the birth of our first baby girl, and she was amazing. Her support throughout everything was outstanding, and she is such a kind and caring person. She made us feel comfortable, supported, and truly cared for during such an important experience. During labor, she advocated for me, helped calm me down, and did everything she could to make me as comfortable as possible. We’re so grateful to have had her as our doula.”
