My name is Kara, and I am working toward 6 Birthworker certifications in CT: birth doula, postpartum doula, lactation support & educator, childbirth educator, newborn care, and breastfeeding educator. I believe our bodies are powerful, and that birth can be a natural, incredible experience given the right support and environment. I firmly believe in evidence-based care guided by intuition. I give my families the info they need to make the decisions that are best for them, and I support them every step of the way. I have a background in music education and nonprofit work, and I have a son, who was my major inspiration for turning to this work. I want to help support the women who are going through one of the biggest transformations of their lives.

I offer a few packages for birth doula services, including prenatals where we get to know each other, I offer education, and we practice comfort measures. I also offer postpartum doula services including daytime, overnight, and twilight hour support. These can be custom-built depending on your needs, but a typical overnight would be 10pm-6am. I offer lactation support along the way, including discussing breastfeeding during prenatals, helping with first latch, and offering lactation consults either separately or as part of the postpartum visit. I will refer you out to an IBCLC if I think you need more help than I can offer.
