Greetings! I’m Lana and I’ve been working in childcare for over 10 years now in the greater Philadelphia area. I also just obtained my Masters in Childhood Studies this past spring. My work in childcare lead me to my career in birth work and advocacy. I’ve been a doula for a little over 2 years now; mainly doing postpartum care. Moving into the field of birth work has helped me to feel truly fulfilled in my career and is something I’ve become extremely passionate about. Whether it be assisting in births or helping families welcome home their new tiny human. In these two years I’ve had many clients and am happy to say I’ve grown close with each and every one of them :)

After pursuing a lifelong career dedicated to working with children, shifting into a space where I can help parents and families in the beginnings of parenthood seemed like a natural progression. Access, knowledge, resources, and support are key components to making the transition into parenthood a more positive experience. Hearing about my sister-in-law’s at-home water birth, I realized how other forms of birthing practices should be readily available and taught to the public to the same extent hospital births are. Every person’s birthing experience is different and there is no “one size fits all”. Anyone who decides to go through the journey of having a child should have easy access to all options and avenues to explore. I developed a passion to provide and help parents have the ability to do just this. Being a doula enables me to give clients the tools to make an educated decision about what they want their birthing experience to look like, while also having the ability to advocate for themselves to ensure the best possible outcomes.
