About me

Hello! My name is Lauren, the hands on and heart led birth and postpartum doula in Durham Region. I'm also a big homebody who loves to read, craft my own tea blends, make natural skincare products and candles, and spend time in nature as much as possible. Becoming a doula felt like stepping into a path that was already laid out for me. I have always felt a fierce protection for other women, and connected easily and deeply with the women in my life. Combined with my interest in herbal healing and natural remedies, my previous work with and love for children and babies, my need to feed everyone I love home cooked, nourishing meals, and my interest in birth & the medical system, I realized that I already was a doula, I just needed to take the leap onto the path.   Early in 2025, I completed a 10 day doula training retreat in Costa Rica, which was a beautiful way to begin my new career. In the past couple of years I have been amazed by the women I work with, the births I have experienced by their sides, and the cocoon of postpartum. I love this work! I believe that birth and postpartum are some of the most transformational and impactful moments of a woman’s life, and they deserve to be positive experiences. Feeling cared for, understood, nourished, and supported are essential in the journey from Maiden, to Mother (and from mother of one, to two, to three…).  If you’re looking for a doula you want to feel cared for by, someone you feel comfortable texting “is this my mucous plug?,” and someone who knows how important the little details are and takes care of them so you don’t have to (like LED candles at your birth and a warm cup of tea postpartum), then hello! Now, Id love to get to know you.

Service introduction

Every woman’s story is different, just as her birth is, and her mothering is. I know that every woman has everything she needs inside her, and my job is to help create the space for her to flourish confidently in her journey, however that looks for her. I allow my clients to take up this space by being a consistent and reliable presence throughout their perinatal journey, especially during their birth. By your side I provide hands on support that looks like massages, position changes, running water over your back in the bath, and holding your hand through contractions. If you have a partner present, I focus on showing them how to be there physically for you, so you never feel alone. My clients and I also share deep connections that go beyond the birth room. With a mix of the birth bestie vibe and a warm and nurturing energy, you'll feel comfortable laughing and chatting with me between early contractions, and being held and supported in your vulnerable moments. I also believe that an informed birth is an empowered birth, and we work together to ensure that before and during your birth, you're educated on what is going on and the choices you can make. My clients feel confident in themselves while making decisions, leading them to having positive birth experiences even when things don't go as planned.

As a first time mom, I had a huge fear of normal delivery. I honestly believed I would never be able to handle labour pain and always thought I’d go for a C-section just to avoid it. But when my OB explained the disadvantages of a c-section, I slowly prepared myself for a normal delivery- though deep down, that fear was still in the corner of my heart. That’s when I decided to reach out for doula support. I knew doulas are there to emotionally support us and stay by our side through that challenging yet beautiful moment. Another big reason was that my husband and I are the only two people here in Canada. We moved here around 2022 and don’t have any immediate family around. As first time parents, both being the only children in our families, we had zero experience with newborns. It was overwhelming at times, and we truly felt lost and alone. That’s why choosing doula support was one of the most incredible decisions I’ve made- and selecting Lauren was truly the best thing that happened to us From the beginning, Lauren was so professional, calm, and caring. She provided me with a lot of labour and postpartum knowledge, did her own research, and shared so many helpful exercise materials to prepare me for my delivery. Whenever I had questions, she responded promptly and explained everything clearly. On my labour day, when I called her, she arrived at the hospital within an hour- whichw as simply amazing. She came fully prepared with massage oil, a pain relief comb, snacks, calming music, soft lights, and so many thoughtful items to make the experience more comfortable. Her presence game me so much confidence to face labour. She even worked closely with my husband, guiding and coordinating everything during those long hours. Lauren went above and beyond- she took notes on every single detail of my labour and later created a beautiful report for me to keep. She also supported me in making important decisions throughout the process with such care and understanding. I am so grateful that I chose Lauren as my doula. Her guidance, encouragement, and knowledge made a world of difference during one of the most important moments of my life. She’s friendly, compassionate, and genuinely passionate about what she does. I would highly recommend Lauren to any expecting mom looking for emotional support, confidence, and care throughout pregnancy, labour, and beyond.

I loved having Lauren in my home while I was newly postpartum. She is extremely friendly and supportive. Whether it was bringing me water while I was breastfeeding my son, grabbing groceries, cooking delicious and healthy food, or listening to my current struggles, she always made sure to put my needs first. I felt comfortable to ask her for help based on what I needed that day. I looked forward to her support every week and while I’m no longer newly postpartum, I will definitely be having her back to help me meal prep.

Having a doula is something I truly can’t explain, it’s something you have to experience for yourself. At first, I didn’t fully understand why I felt I needed a doula, but I knew I wanted someone like Lauren by my side. I tried explaining it to my husband, but he didn’t quite get it either. After giving birth, I can confidently say I would not have had such a positive unmedicated birth experience without Lauren. Even my husband was incredibly grateful that we decided to hire her as our birth doula, and my midwife commented on how amazing she was. Giving birth was the most vulnerable, painful, and blissful experience of my life. Lauren helped me feel supported, capable, and deeply grateful throughout the entire process. She also prepared me mentally and emotionally to navigate contractions unmedicated, which was absolutely priceless. If I have more babies in the future, I will without a doubt hire her again.

Having Lauren as my doula was one of the greatest blessings of my pregnancy and birth. From the start, her warmth, calm presence, and genuine care made me feel safe, supported, and heard. She came prepared for every visit, always made herself available, and went above and beyond to guide me with compassion and knowledge. When my husband, Zack, felt anxious about the birth, she took the time to connect with him privately, easing his fears and helping him feel confident in his role. When I faced discrimination from my initial midwife, Lauren stood firmly by my side, advocating for me, validating my feelings, and even accompanying me to an appointment, something far beyond what was expected of her. She created thoughtful worksheets to help me navigate decisions and mentally prepare for labour, and when my birth took an unexpected turn, she was my anchor. I will never forget her holding my hand, breathing with me, and cheering me on through every contraction and push. Though my birth unfolded differently than I had planned, it was everything I hoped it would be: empowering, supported, and full of love, thanks largely to Lauren’s incredible care.
