Hi my name is Madi, and I’m a mixed Acadian/Migmaw birth and end-of-life doula in the Edmonton area. I decided to become a birth worker and end-of-life doula because I believe every single person deserves an advocate. Every person deserves autonomy and the right to make decisions. Every person should be allowed access to traditional medicines. Trained through DONA, I have practiced as a birth worker for about two years. I have serviced births in every Edmonton hospital, and I have experience with at home water births. Birthing to me is a sacred act that should be seen as just that - sacred. It is beautiful, incredibly difficult, joyful and life-changing. When it comes to my end-of-life, I have been certified as an Indigenous End of Life doula via Lifting Their Minds End-of-Life Indigenous Doula Training. It is incredibly important to me to hold space for both the entrance of life, and the departure of life as both worlds can sometimes coincide. With expertise in attending both home and hospital births, she holds valuable experience in supporting VBAC, twins, and brings personal insight from her own journey, including home VBAC, infertility, and trauma. In addition to her current doula certifications, Brittney has a passionate focus on VBAC clients. Recognizing the unique needs and desires of mothers seeking a vaginal birth after cesarean, she is currently the only VBAC Certified Doula in the Edmonton area which underscores her commitment to providing specialized support and expertise for women navigating the journey of VBAC. Her passion for birth work is deeply rooted in her personal experiences and a love for endurance sports, coupled with her resilience in overcoming cancer. As a mother of two miracle boys, Brittney defied odds after surviving leukemia in 2010 when she was told she may never conceive. Grounded in her Christian faith and through the power of prayer, Brittney's determination, patience, and a profound emotional struggle ultimately led to the conception of her first child. Facing numerous medical interventions during her cancer battle, Brittney recognized the importance of reclaiming control over her body during childbirth. Despite a first birth ending in a c-section, the overall prenatal, labor, and postpartum experience remained positive, thanks to the support of a wonderful midwife and labor companion. For her second birth, she achieved an empowering home water birth with the assistance of her midwife and doula. Brittney firmly believes in the strength and power of all women to manifest the birth they envision. As a doula, her goal is to provide unwavering support, fostering a peaceful birthing environment that transforms this experience into a moment of empowerment. Drawing from her personal journey, Brittney is dedicated to helping other mothers create empowering and positive birthing experiences, ensuring they emerge with a profound sense of strength, confidence, and self-discovery. Through compassionate guidance, Brittney strives to make each birth a transformative and inspiring journey into motherhood. Brittney is certified through DONA International. She has completed both the DONA Birth Doula and Postpartum Doula training in Edmonton, Alberta, along with Introduction to Childbirth for Doulas and the Basics of Lactation Management for Doulas. She also holds her Advanced VBAC Doula certification, is a Placenta Encapsulation Specialist and has completed her Lamaze Childbirth Educator training.

Hello, I'm Elizabeth! I've been fascinated by all things birth and breastfeeding for as long as I can remember, and have been a certified birth and postpartum doula since January 2025. I am passionate about helping families achieve the physiological birth they desire by providing physical, emotional, and informational support throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum season. One of the barriers that often stands in way of expecting mothers is fear. Fear of the unknown, of the intense, or of not being able to "do" birth. Mama, you've got this!
