First baby, history of miscarriages, 44 years old, pregnancy is going very well so far, I’ll give birth at Red Deer hospital, I don’t have a birth plan yet, my fiancé is working up north and might not be around when baby decides to come, I’d love to have support while giving birth as well as when we’re back home

I'm new to Edmonton and how doulas and midwives work here. This is my second pregnancy, I have a daughter that was born under Ontario (Niagara) midwifery care and for us it was the best decision. I've been told that here it works differently, I don't have an AHS due to our pending immigration status, so everything would be out of pocket. I recently found about it so I'd say I have like 4 weeks. I'm unsure to where I want to give birth, the last time was in the hospital because it was the first time, everything went well and our Midwife told me that the next time I could also think about a house birth, but I'm still unsure. I want an unmedicated birth as the first one too.
