My favorite moment during birth is seeing the laboring person tap into a strength that most do not realize has always been there. I am Kayla Connors; a black birth worker from Allen Park, MI. While black and native laboring people statistically face more complications from and after labor, the inflexible nature of the healthcare system impacts ALL of us. It is natural for that strength to be clouded by uncertainty. After falling in love with my birthing experience, I wanted to help support other expectant mothers in having the birth experience of their dreams. During the pandemic I was becoming a first time mom and had no idea what to expect so I researched and found an amazing doula.
