She connected us with Paige who was our primary doula. I can’t thank enough both Paige and Lorraine who teamed up to provide both day and night support in the first two weeks and were extremely flexible on the schedule when I needed them the most. Huge shout out to Paige for her incredible support throughout our time together with our daughter. I could sleep and rest in the night while Paige would make sure our daughter was calm, well fed and clean while also making sure I was doing ok and had everything I needed. Paige was amazing with our daughter the way she would calm her down when she was super fussy and not sleeping. Best decision we made was hiring Repose Birth Services to be our night time Doula. Amazing doesn’t do them justice. As a first time mum, the whole time I felt like baby and I were in great hands. My wife and I came across Repose Birth Services through a recommendation from the Cleo app benefit through my work. This being our first child, we wanted to make sure that we had good support throughout the pregnancy process. We interviewed with several potential doulas from multiple services and were drawn to Mijanou who gave us immediately helpful information and was extremely present with us from the beginning. We had several very productive phone calls from the beginning and clicked immediately with Mijanou. She was incredibly personable and helpful, and we felt that we were going to be well taken care of due to the amount of personal time and care she gave us. She followed up with us to make sure we were well taken care of and knew what was happening with the entire process. Mijanou met with us several times before the birth and was available night or day in order to answer our questions. My wife was dealing with intense back pain and Mijanou went above and beyond to schedule additional virtual calls in order to guide us through massage sessions that eased my wife’s severe pain. It felt like we had a loyal partner to help us through this sometimes traumatic process. In the day of, Mijanou was in constant contact with us and helped us push and deliver a beautiful baby girl. I felt that without her help the overall process would have been much more difficult and harder to manage. Her assistance throughout the whole process has been absolutely invaluable. How do I love Repose Birth Services? Let me count the ways. I am a transplant to New Jersey and without a support system here I was apprehensive to birth my first child without support. I found this support from an all woman, all brown service. There is just something so important to be with someone like family that can understand your cultural needs in a time of extreme vulnerability. I first met with Lorraine the owner via video call. During our call it felt we were in alignment and she introduced me to Mimi, who I will forever call the guardian of my birth and of my daughter. Our first call was just before the Christmas holiday when I was 33 weeks pregnant. Somewhat late to start with a doula. We met in person the first week of the new year and from the very beginning she felt like family. Mimi gave us a crash course in pregnancy, birth, labor stages, and what to expect in the hospital. Luckily we got these meetings in because I delivered at 38 weeks. My water broke in the middle of the night. The plan was to labor at home until I was 4/1/1. Well I went earlier and was still in the early stages of labor when Mimi was finally able to meet us at the hospital. See, Valley tried to prevent her from coming upstairs due to an unclear rule about COVID booster shots. I thought that perhaps it wasn’t meant to be, me having a doula. But, Mimi, my child’s guardian fought and persevered like the warrior doula she is and made it happen. She showed up for early labor, above what we discussed and guided me through about 15 hours of labor and helped me stick to my birth plan of no epidural and no drugs. Mimi guided me to bring my daughter into this world with strength and love. For that I will be eternal grateful.

I had the pleasure of working with Repose Services for my 1st pregnancy after searching for a Black/Woman owned birth team. It was a great experience from beginning to end as the owner Lorraine immediately responded to me once I completed her website form and we had a great Zoom meeting from which she paired me with Birth Doula Tasheea Nicholson who was nearest to my location. What impressed me the most was Lorraine's ability to actively listen to my needs and expectations for a gentle, informative, spiritually led Doula who would match my vibe and create a calm, educating, empowering, and safe space for myself and my husband on our journey to parenthood. Lorraine completely knocked it out of the park and paired me with literally the most caring and funny down to earth Doula ever.
