Madison Nichols Birth & Postpartum Doula in Davis, CA
About Madison
Hello! My name is Madison, and I’m a birth doula, peer lactation consultant, and postpartum doula-in-training. I have spent close to two years volunteering at local hospitals to provide evidence-based care to families who otherwise would not have had access to a doula. I am passionate about women’s health, especially when it comes to informed consent. My philosophy is holistic, evidence-based, affirming care, with the goal of helping you and baby be as happy and healthy as possible. In my free time, I enjoy crocheting, traveling, and volunteering at local hospitals and clinics (outside of my doula work). I adore my job, and it’s the biggest blessing to be able to be a part of such a beautiful and vulnerable journey. I would love to connect and see if we’d be a good fit!

Birth & Postpartum Doula packages and pricing
Standard Birth Package
I offer 3 prenatal visits, support during the labor and birth, and 1 4-hour postpartum visit. I also provide virtual support throughout the pregnancy and immediate postpartum period. There is an option to add on more visits, both prenatal and postpartum, for an additional fee of $50/prenatal and $30/hour postpartum. I offer sliding scale care.
Postpartum Package
We work together to determine how much care you want and need, up until the baby is 6 months old. I provide daytime infant care, breastfeeding support, light household baby-related cleaning (washing bottles, doing baby’s laundry), mental health planning, and emotional support. I offer sliding-scale care.
What to expect
My primary service is as a birth doula. During our prenatal visits, I offer comprehensive childbirth education, postpartum planning, birth preparation, and support creating a birth plan. During your labor and delivery I am present for as much or as little of the process as you would like. I provide hands-on physical comfort and support, emotional support, support in connecting with partners/friends/family during the labor process, and assistance with communicating with your medical team. A postpartum visit is included where we process the birth, go over any questions you may have about the immediate postpartum period, check in on your mental health, and help put our postpartum plans into place. My secondary service is as a peer lactation consultant. If you’re choosing to breastfeed your baby, I’m available to help make that process easier! I’m here to help with latching, pumping, and storing milk. I provide guidance on how to safely approach different aspects of breastfeeding, as well as guidance on how to navigate any physical or emotional discomfort you may have. I’m there as an extra set of eyes to help you know when any issues require the attention of a physician or an IBCLC and, if so, I help refer you to the right person.
