About Shannon

Christian doula serving mothers in the GTA & beyond, throughout pregnancy, birth, & postpartum. Personalized birth support rooted in physiology, faith, & hope. As one of nine children, my love for children, pregnancy, and birth began early, inspired by my mother’s own birth stories. This passion led me to become a certified doula through GoMidwife and Intentional Birth, along with additional midwifery education and a year-long apprenticeship under a midwife in the US. Having supported over 70 women through pregnancy and birth, I am passionate about helping mothers understand physiologic birth, navigate their options, communicate confidently with their care providers, and make informed decisions. I believe God has intricately designed women’s bodies to birth and nurture their babies, while also recognizing that medical intervention is sometimes necessary. My goal is to equip and encourage women to approach birth with confidence, trust, and hope—and to feel empowered as they welcome their babies and enter motherhood.

We are so grateful for the support and care Shannon gave us throughout the journey of welcoming our first baby. She shared so much knowledge and went above and beyond in sharing resources and answering our questions. She helped us feel informed, prepared, and confident every step of the way. When the birth didn’t go according to plan, she was there to support us during a very emotional time. Her kindness and presence made such a difference in our experience. She truly went above and beyond in her care for our family, during pregnancy and postpartum. We couldn’t have asked for a better person to guide us through this journey! Shannon is truly wonderful!!

From the very beginning of our pregnancy journey, Shannon was incredibly informative and made both my husband and I feel completely at ease. She didn't just educate us about pregnancy and birth; she took the time to really get to know us as a couple, understanding what we wanted our birthing outcome to look like and the things that truly mattered to us. My birth was very long and very stressful, and having her there was a breath of fresh air. She knew us so well that when our brains were shutting down, she was able to ask the questions we didn't always think to ask and gently help us stay connected to what mattered most. She also stayed remarkably calm and respectful to the hospital staff throughout, even when they were being a little pushy for me to make a decision quickly. She had a way of advocating for us without ever creating tension, which made such a difference when pressure was running high. Working with Shannon was something we will never forget, and we couldn't recommend her enough to anyone looking to hire a doula. She will definitely be our first choice for our future babies.

As first time parents, this was one of the most intimate and vulnerable moments of our lives. We entered into it with fears and thought that we were prepared with all of the birthing classes we attended. Wow, were we wrong. Being supported by Natalie and Shannon turned my biggest fear of labour into my most favourite part of my mom journey. Natalie exuded passion when we first spoke on the phone. My situation was unique and she was willing to work together to accommodate us because she believes all women should have access to support. She truly lived by that conviction. When she set us up with Shannon, we didn’t know what to expect. Shannon ensured that both myself and my husband’s wishes were respected throughout the entire process. She studied our birth plan well. She knew what we wanted, would relay this to medical staff (with our consent), and if circumstances changed, she made sure we were made aware of this. We appreciated her emphasis on informed consent. When we had to make a decision, she would provide us with extra knowledge so that we could make a decision we were happy with. As situations changed rapidly, Shannon was so great at pausing for a moment so we were aware of what was happening. This meant a lot to us. Shannon also knew how to keep the environment calm. I’m not particularly patient when in pain so although my contractions had me breathless at one point, I was still able to laugh between them because of her. I felt extremely comfortable and at ease especially when she would remind me of God’s goodness throughout. She also was amazing at working together with my husband to be my advocates. She supported him so well throughout this process, which also aided in me feeling comfortable. As my labour continued for almost 3 days, she was in great communication with Natalie, who was ready to switch with Shannon. They both just went above and beyond what we even discussed with expectations. I could go on and on. We’re so very thankful for them as they were an answer to prayer for us. We highly recommend them and will be working with them again for our future babies!
