I have over 20 years of public health experience working at the private, state and federal level. The importance of public health and living a healthy lifestyle has been my life since I was a young girl! My mother set the stage early in life by encouraging an overall holistic approach. I witnessed my first birth at the age of nine and that exposure opened a world of possibilities. I have always had an interest in maternal and child health and a passion to support women during one of the most important seasons of life, the sacred transition into motherhood. After having children of my own, I answered the call to follow my dream and become a doula. My goal is to educate and provide resources for healthy food and lifestyle choices that can lead to a better quality of life for those in the family and future years. I received a B.S. degree in health promotion and disease prevention from the University of Southern California, and a M.P.H. in health policy and management from Emory University. A little about myself! My journey in healthcare started in the ER as a patient care tech, and I became an RN in 2010. Shortly after obtaining my RN I stepped into the world of Women's Health. I have practiced in multiple arenas of Women's Health such as: mother/baby, newborn admission and nursery, labor and delivery, OB-GYN office, and lactation consultation. My journey with breastfeeding was brought on when I faced my own personal struggles with breastfeeding my first baby. I struggled with postpartum depression during that time and I did not feel that I had enough support from personal relationships nor from clinical providers. Because of this experience I became very passionate about providing support to other breastfeeding families. I never another struggling family to feel that they do not have the support and resources to reach their breastfeeding goals! I am married and we have 2 children and 3 pups!
