Frequently asked questions

Do I need to wait until my baby arrives to get support?

No. Prenatal visits give you time to ask questions, discuss your goals, and prepare for feeding before your baby arrives. You can also reach out at any point after birth.

What can you help with?

Support includes, but is not limited to, preparing to breastfeed, positioning and latch, nipple discomfort, milk supply concerns, pumping, bottle feeding, returning to work, and weaning. Your care plan is tailored to your goals and your baby’s needs.

Do I have to exclusively breastfeed to work with you?

No. Whether you are breastfeeding, pumping, combination feeding, or preparing to wean, you deserve respectful, personalized support. We’ll work together on a plan that supports your goals.

What happens during a lactation consultation?

We’ll discuss your concerns, feeding history, and goals. With your consent, I may perform a physical assessment of you and your baby, as appropriate to your needs. We may also observe a feeding, work on positioning and latch, or review pumping and milk supply question's. You’ll receive practical recommendations and a personalized care plan. Referrals are provided when concerns need evaluation beyond lactation care.

How long is a follow-up visit?

Follow-up visits are 45 minutes and are intended for established clients. We’ll review your progress, address new questions, reassess feeding as needed, and adjust your care plan as your feeding needs evolve.

What areas do you serve?

I serve families in the Poconos, Pennsylvania, and select areas of Northern New Jersey, including Sussex County. Please share your location when inquiring so I can confirm availability and any travel fees.

Do you submit claims to insurance?

I do not currently submit insurance claims. A superbill for clinical lactation services is available upon request for you to submit to your insurer. Reimbursement depends on your individual plan and is not guaranteed. Please confirm payment arrangements before booking, particularly if you have Aetna.

Can I use HSA or FSA benefits?

An itemized receipt can be provided for lactation services. Please check with your benefits administrator about eligibility and required documentation before booking. Routine overnight newborn care is billed separately and should not be assumed eligible for the same benefits.

When is payment due, and are there travel fees?

Payment is due at booking. Lactation visits in your home have an additional $50 travel fee. Any travel charge for overnight newborn support will be discussed and agreed upon before booking.

What is your cancellation policy?

For lactation appointments canceled at least 24 hours in advance, you may reschedule or receive a 75% refund. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice and missed appointments are nonrefundable. Overnight booking terms are provided separately before you reserve care.

Do you offer overnight newborn care?

Occasional non-medical overnight support is available for healthy, full-term infants during their first four weeks, subject to availability and screening. Support includes diapering, soothing, routine feeding according to an agreed plan, and cleaning feeding supplies used during the shift. Parents or guardians must provide all supplies needed for overnight care. A parent or guardian must remain home. Skilled nursing and medical monitoring are not included.

What does overnight support cost?

Overnight newborn support is $40 per hour with an eight-hour minimum, totaling $320 before any agreed travel fee. Overnight care and clinical lactation consultations are separate services.
