What to expect

I offer both in-home and telehealth lactation consultations, with each visit tailored to your unique needs, goals, and feeding experience. In-home consultations allow you to receive personalized support in the comfort of your own home, especially valuable during those early postpartum days when getting out of the house can feel like a lot. We can take our time assessing feeding, positioning, latch, milk transfer, and anything else that may be affecting your breastfeeding experience. Visits may include weighted feeds, latch and positioning support, pumping and flange guidance, oral function assessment, bottle-feeding support, and a comprehensive feeding assessment. Most importantly, we’ll focus on what you and your baby need rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. In-home visits include a travel fee, along with any applicable tolls and parking fees. Many families find the added convenience and personalized attention of having an IBCLC come directly to them well worth the investment, particularly during the early postpartum period. Ready for support? Book a consultation and let’s work together to make feeding feel more comfortable, confident, and manageable.

The consultation sessions were very helpful to give me the confidence in feeding as FTM, and right away improved the milk supply with the right size of flanges and pumping techniques. Ngan is compassionate and attentive.

Ngan has been such an integral part of my breastfeeding journey. I struggled as a first time mom with breastfeeding as my daughter was not latching correctly. I was in so much pain and had constant clogs. She recommended for my daughter to have her tongue and lip ties evaluated by a dentist in the city. My daughter had her releases done and it has changed my breastfeeding journey. Honestly, it was a miracle. For the first time I didn’t have nipple soreness and clogged ducts. My daughter used to make a whomping noise as she fed and would be fussy and tired from feeding but has improved drastically after the procedure and with Ngan’s guidance. I cannot recommend Ngan and her services enough. When I felt like giving up Ngan gave me the path forward and I am so grateful!

Frequently asked questions

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, I work with select insurance plans like AETNA, Meritain Health, United Healthcare, and Cigna. However, coverage can vary depending on your specific plan and benefits. Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), many non-grandfathered health plans are required to provide breastfeeding support and counseling as a covered preventive service. Because every insurance plan has different requirements, I recommend contacting your insurance company before your appointment to confirm your lactation benefits, provider requirements, and any applicable out-of-network benefits.

What if you don't accept my insurance?

If I am not in-network with your insurance plan, you are still welcome to book a consultation as a self-pay client. I can provide you with a superbill and the documentation needed to submit a claim to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Please note that receiving a superbill does not guarantee reimbursement. Your insurance company determines whether and how much they will reimburse based on your individual plan, benefits, deductible, and out-of-network coverage. Even when a provider is out-of-network, your plan may have options for lactation support under its breastfeeding benefits, so I encourage you to ask your insurance company specifically about out-of-network lactation/IBCLC coverage.

What to ask your insurance company

When calling your insurance, ask: “Does my plan cover lactation counseling with an IBCLC?” “Is out-of-network lactation care covered?” “Do I need a referral or prior authorization?” “What is my reimbursement rate for an out-of-network provider?” “Is there a deductible I need to meet first?” “What CPT/diagnosis codes or documentation are required for reimbursement?”

Do you charge for travel, tolls, or parking?

Yes. In-home visits include a travel fee based on your location, plus any applicable tolls and parking fees. The travel fee helps cover the time and costs involved in traveling to your home, while applicable tolls and parking fees cover the direct expenses associated with getting to your location. All applicable fees are discussed with you before your appointment is confirmed, so you know what to expect. Telehealth consultations do not have travel, toll, or parking fees.
