About Yuen kwan

I believe birth is a journey, not a medical event to be managed. My role as your midwife is to walk beside you: to listen, to guide, and to protect your right to make informed choices about your body, your baby, and your birth. I began my career in 2006 as a NICU nurse, caring for the tiniest and most fragile newborns. In 2009 I became a midwife, first serving families at a community medical center and a community hospital. That background shaped how I practice today. I deeply trust the normal process of birth, and I am clinically ready when birth needs more support. I have attended births at home and in the hospital, and I know how to bridge the two calmly and safely. Almost ten years into my career as a midwife, I became a mama myself, and my two boys taught me more than any textbook. With my first son, I planned a homebirth. When labor needed more support, I transferred to the hospital and gave birth by cesarean. I know firsthand the disappointment, the grief, and the strength it takes when birth doesn't go as planned. With my second son, I had a successful VBAC at home. That birth brought healing and reminded me how powerful our bodies are. I have been on both sides of the bed. I understand what it means to hope for a certain kind of birth, to need a change of plans, and to come back and birth again with confidence. Whether you're planning your first homebirth, hoping for a VBAC, or healing from a past experience, I will meet you with honesty, safety, and deep respect for your journey. What I offer • Full-scope homebirth midwifery: prenatal, birth, and postpartum care • Hybrid prenatal care with in-office visits and home visits from 37 weeks (or home visits throughout) • VBAC support and counseling • In-office ECV (turning) for breech babies • The Hospital Birth Bridge Program: in-home labor assessment and support for families planning a hospital birth, so you arrive at the right time • Lactation visits with a Certified IBCLC: in-home or in-office help with latch, supply, pumping, and feeding challenges • GYN wellness care: annual exams, preconception care, birth control, and hormone health from your teens through menopause • Childbirth, breastfeeding, and newborn care classes • Postpartum recovery and whole-woman care through my sister practice, ReGlo Aesthetic & Wellness

TLC Midwifery offers full-spectrum care for women and birthing families, from your teen years through menopause. My heart is in homebirth: personalized prenatal care, a calm and safe birth at home, and close postpartum support for you and your baby. I also offer VBAC support, in-office ECV for breech babies, and my Hospital Birth Bridge Program for families planning a hospital birth who want expert labor support at home first. As a Certified IBCLC, I provide lactation visits at home or in the office. My GYN wellness care includes annual exams, preconception care, birth control, and hormone health. I also teach childbirth, breastfeeding, and newborn care classes. TLC is an out-of-network provider with all insurance plans. For homebirth care, we do work with insurance. Our billing team will check your benefits and walk you through your coverage before you sign on. All other services are self-pay, and we gladly accept FSA and HSA cards. Have questions about cost?
