About me

Heyy Yall, I'm Michelle social worker by day and certified birth doula by passion located in Chicago. My main focus as a doula is make sure I'm supporting your goals and interests. Within my business mental and nutritional health are pillars in the structure and embedded in all that I do since it impacts all part of your life especially in birth. My goal as a doula is reinforce your desires and educate you with warmth and compassion. There's so many things in life that are hard childbirth shouldn't be one of them. In my free time I'm a proud auntie, reader, sometimes chef/baker, I love watching Golden Girls every night and picking a new hobby every season to try out!

What are my payment options?

Cash, Cashiers check, PayPal (option to pay in 4), Google Pay and/or HSA/FSA reimbursement. Payment plans are available by request.

When is it a good time to hire a doula?

It's never too early or too late to hire a doula. The best time to start your interview process is ideally after for first trimester. Most doulas book quickly; repeat birthing familes often book their doulas when they confirm their pregnancy. So if there's one you like and feel connected to more swiftly!

What are the limitations of a birth doula?

Births doulas are not medical professionals They do not perform clinical tasks such as vaginal exams or heart rate monitoring, they do not provide medical advice or diagnosis, they do not make decisions for their clients medical or otherwise, they do not pressure the birthing person into certain choices just because is what they prefer, they do not take over the role of the partner and they do not catch the baby. A doula is apart of you birth team to support the decisions you make, provided education, affirmation and advocacy.

If I have a C sections scheduled or need an emergency C Section will I get support from my doula?

Absolutely! C Sections are still apart of labor and birthing parent still require support even in a surgical setting. Your dula is there to explain what is happening, guide you through the procedure and create personalized birth plan. Your doula will also be there during the recovery to help you with the first breastfeeding and bonding. There's a possibility that your doula can accompany you into the operating room unless it's an extreme emergency requiring general anesthesia. Throughout the process your doula is there to support you and your partner.
