She jokes, "The first doula client I ever had was a momma sheep out on our family friend's farm in Colorado when I was 9 years old. That was the first birth I ever participated in and since then, I've been so enthralled with birth in every form." Mikki's real journey to becoming a doula began with the birth of her firstborn, Jensen. She states that having a doula herself changed her whole perception about what birth is really like and what the human body is capable of.
