We are still determining the exact level of support we are looking for. We plan to give birth in a hospital in San Francisco. Our primary search is for post-birth overnight support, which would include support for the mom and care for the baby, including feeding, settling, changing, and any associated cleaning. It is important to us to get detailed updates on how the baby did overnight. We want to make sure that the person providing the support fits well into our home. We would expect we need this support 4-5 nights per week for 10-16 weeks, and would seek to get support on sleep conditioning over that period of time. We are also evaluating if a birth doula is something that we want but have not yet decided on that.

We're looking for a postpartum doula to support both Mom and our 8-week-old baby as we establish routines and transition toward a longer-term nanny. Mom is 39, and our primary goal is to give her dedicated time to rest, shower, eat, or simply recharge while knowing our son is in experienced, caring hands. Our insurance covers a limited number of postpartum doula visits, but if we're a good fit, we'd also be interested in continuing with private pay at approximately $30–35/hour for 2–3 visits per week of up to 4 hours each. We're looking for someone who: Has at least 5 years of experience caring for newborns. Is fully vaccinated and a non-smoker. Is certified in infant CPR/First Aid. Is knowledgeable about paced bottle feeding, current safe sleep practices, and supporting breastfeeding families. Is comfortable following our parenting preferences and working collaboratively with us. When the baby is settled, we'd greatly appreciate light household support related to caring for our family, such as washing bottles and pump parts, folding laundry, tidying baby areas, simple meal prep, or other light household tasks.
