My baby boy has been doing amazing with nursing since the second he was born! Up until yesterday (2/19/25) It’s been about 24 hours. Yesterday was really rough on the both of us. This is my second child and I am also Tandem nursing. My first born is 16 months (dob: 10/9/23) but I only nurse her during naps and maybe once throughout the day. My son is only a week and 4 days (dob: 2/9/25) My son is not latching correctly anymore. It basically feels like he’s just pacifying himself. He gets so frustrated as well that he can’t get milk. I just need advice on what to do. I feel like I have tried everything at this point.

My daughter's delivery had several complications that resulted in my first skin to skin and latch occuring over 4 hours post partum. My baby is 5 months of age, teething, and he’s been getting distracted and/or refusing bottles at times, although we have some techniques to help him drink his bottles. I’ve been mostly nursing him, and he also receives supplementation of formula daily and sometimes pumped breastmilk (combo-feeding). Right now, we’re going to have to do more bottle feeding to make sure that he’s getting enough milk, and I’m going to have to be pumping more. I’m looking for a doula (who accepts Kern Family Health Care insurance plan) for some help, mainly some help with light chores, like washing bottle/feeding stuff, laundry (mainly baby stuff and some of my stuff that I wash with his, like blouses, sweaters, nursing covers, etc.), and a bit of meal prep (I’m vegan and eat plant-based). My husband works 4 days of the week, and helps me when he gets home and on his days off. We live with my parents who are older. I’m doing most tasks by myself when he’s not home, so some help for a couple of hours or so on days when he’s working would be helpful. I’m also looking for a lactation consultant, so if you’re both, please let me know, or if you’re a lactation consultant who accepts my insurance plan. Thank you. :)
