This is my first baby and unplanned, we are planning to birth at Littleton Adventist hospital. I reside in Lakewood and we are hoping for someone to help guide us through the process of pregnancy and how to plan for birth and after birth and an additional support person there for birth to help execute my hopes for a birth plan even when things go a different way. I love a holistic approach but have some health complications so we chose a MD rather than a midwife so hoping the doula is able to help us find a balance between the two wishes. The care is for me and baby but also dad will be there and is eager to learn so would love him to be included. We have both united healthcare and medicaid and really just hoping to use those two insurances to cover majority of our cost.

Planning to give birth in a hospital, tricare should completely cover costs for a doula, no birth plan established yet, at least 5 years of doula experience is preferred, my wife's age is 22 and she is a type 1 diabetic meaning it is a high-risk pregnancy. Requirements from Tricare for doulas: A current certification from one of the following: BirthWorks International, Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association (CAPPA), Doulas of North America (DONA) International, International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA), ToLABOR, or National Black Doulas Association (NBDA). Participation in a qualified, statewide Medicaid program may be recognized in lieu of one of these national certifications. I am planning on giving birth at Longs Peak Hospital in Longmont. I am hoping to find a doula that is completely covered by Medicaid. I am still working on my birth plan but I know I don't want to labor on my back. It's been 13 years since my last child and my partners first.
