My name is Kelly Sijapati, and I am an experienced International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. I was certified in 2015, and I have served as a volunteer peer breastfeeding counselor since 2011. I have a degree in Psychology and believe that the most important aspect of lactation care is listening closely to the new parent so I can understand their individual situation and feeding goals before working together with them to create a personalized care plan. In her capacity as a doula, she believes in providing families with evidence-based answers to their questions. She offers meditations and affirmations for parents to build confidence in their abilities. Along with her book Mindful Minutes for Mothers, she uses tonics and oils to aid in healing. Tiffany is President of the Board of Directors for the Chicago South Side Birth Center. A center helping address inequities in birth outcomes by providing culturally centered midwifery care alongside families and within the community to promote wellness and abundance in whole health. To this day, I believe my own experience of childbirth with my daughter would have been positively different if I had the opportunity of having a doula. Creating life and bringing it into this world is a superpower women have, and I want to empower other women from all walks of life through this physical, emotional, and spiritual process. Everyone’s childbirth story is different, and I enjoy hearing and learning from their experiences. I love working with babies and have many years of experience, as I worked at a daycare before, during, and after my daughter was born. I am naturally an empathetic and nurturing woman and find joy in making sure everyone around me is well and healthy. My partner and I have big families and we enjoy spending lots of quality time with everyone and creating new memories for my 5 year old daughter, Alayna. Although I love being surrounded by my family and friends, I also enjoy my alone time occasionally. I believe it is important to spend time with yourself to recharge and fill your own cup, so you can then help fill other’s cups. I have been an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant since 2015. Prior to becoming an IBCLC, I was a Certified Lactation Counselor since 2006. My passion for breastfeeding truly came when I breast fed my first child, born in 2007. I have three children and eleven years of personal breastfeeding experience. I joined Rush Copley Medical Center as a Lactation Counselor in 2013 and held this position until transitioning to an IBCLC in 2015, further adding to my expertise in NICU, Pediatrics, and outpatient complex cases. I have helped thousands of parents reach their goals over the last decade. I am an active USLCA member and have had advanced training in TOTs (tethered oral tissues), as well as completion of the holistic course, the IBCLC Masters Class. I am sub-contracted with North Shore Lactation since March 2022.
