We are first-time parents expecting a baby girl via a planned C-section at Stanford on September 16. We live in San Bruno and are looking for an experienced postpartum doula or newborn care specialist to begin after we return from the hospital. Our priority is overnight support for approximately 8–12 hours per night, ideally 5–7 nights per week for the first 2–4 weeks, with flexibility to extend. We need help with feeding, burping, diaper changes, soothing, swaddling, bottle and pump-part cleaning, and tracking the baby’s feeding and sleep. We would especially value someone trained in lactation support who can assist with breastfeeding, latch, positioning, pumping, and recognizing when an IBCLC should be consulted. Experience supporting C-section recovery is also important. The provider must communicate comfortably in English and have strong newborn experience. Postpartum doula or newborn-care training, infant CPR/First Aid, excellent references, and knowledge of current safe-sleep practices are strongly preferred. We want responsive newborn care and healthy sleep foundations—not “cry it out” or formal sleep training during the newborn stage.

We plan to give birth at a hospital (Kaiser in Redwood City). I'm looking for options that will be 100% covered by our Kaiser health insurance. My birth plan is flexible. Ideally I would prefer an unmedicated VBAC birth, but is flexible if induction or C-section is required. Would be helpful to have a doula that is also well-versed in sleep training. Hi there! We have a 3 month old boy and currently are using a newborn care specialist overnight 7 nights a week. Her contract is up and of September and she is unable to extend. We are looking for someone who can watch him overnight in October until we are comfortable starting sleep training. We will be out of town October 12-16, but ideally would love someone to start October 1-11, and resume again October 16-October 31. We are located in Burlingame!

I want vaginal birth as much as possible unless there are absolute necessary conditions/complications that require a C-section. I don't want induction unless it's absolutely necessary. I want an epidural and also open to try other pain relieving methods but that doesn't mean I don't want epidural.

We are still determining the exact level of support we are looking for. We plan to give birth in a hospital in San Francisco. Our primary search is for post-birth overnight support, which would include support for the mom and care for the baby, including feeding, settling, changing, and any associated cleaning. It is important to us to get detailed updates on how the baby did overnight. We want to make sure that the person providing the support fits well into our home. We would expect we need this support 4-5 nights per week for 10-16 weeks, and would seek to get support on sleep conditioning over that period of time. Second baby, attempting vbac. Didn't have a doula with my first birth. Ended up being induced due to heart rate decelerations, labour progressed well but babe was struggling with contractions so moved to c section. I really felt like I missed out on a physiological birth, and I've been told by my OB that I'm likely a good candidate for a vbac. Currently 33 weeks, IVF pregnancy.

We’re looking for an experienced overnight newborn care provider for the first 1–2 months postpartum. Ideally, we’d like someone with both NCS experience and postpartum doula credentials. A formal postpartum doula certification is strongly preferred for possible reimbursement through Carrot, Anthem Blue Cross PPO, or Progyny. Our main need is overnight newborn care, not cooking or housekeeping. My parents will help with meals. Responsibilities would include feeding support, bringing baby to me for breastfeeding, burping, diaper changes, soothing, safely settling baby back to sleep, bottle/pump-part cleaning, and tracking feeds, diapers, and sleep. Mandarin is preferred, but English-only is completely fine for the right candidate. We strongly prefer someone who has cared for 15+ newborns, with substantial recent experience with babies 0–12 weeks old. Infant CPR/First Aid, strong references, and adherence to current AAP safe sleep guidelines are required. We prefer a responsive, evidence-based approach and no cry-it-out sleep training for a young newborn.
