I am planning to use my insurance at Kaiser for my scans up through the third trimester, and mainly want the midwife and possible doula team for delivery. I imagine visiting with them beforehand, but relying on my insurance for everything else leading up to delivery. My partner, Lucas, and I live in the Mission in San Francisco and are currently looking for a doula to support us during birth and postpartum period. We are planning a hospital birth through Kaiser at the Redwood City Birth Center, and ideally are looking someone in-network with Kaiser and able to accept Carrot benefits. A little about us: we’re a French/German-American couple in our 30s, and this is our first baby. I tend to be thoughtful and preparation-oriented, and I’m looking for someone calm, grounded, emotionally attuned, and experienced supporting first-time parents. My hope is for a supportive and relatively low-intervention birth experience if medically appropriate, while staying flexible and pragmatic (not too attached to anything).
