I spent the first few years of life in a household with my maternal grandmother, learning first hand what it means to care for and nurture a woman. I believe every woman has the right to a safe and healthy pregnancy and birth experience. For over 15 years, I have been working with women, as they journey through what it takes to become pregnant, sustain pregnancy, care for a new life and grieve through pregnancy or infant loss. This is my passion! I am here to support, encourage, inform, teach and honor your wishes from fertility through pregnancy, birth and loss.

I am a doula and a yoga practitioner in Frisco and the Dallas-Forth Worth Metroplex, and I have a Masters of Arts in Physical Activity and Health from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in Bavaria, Germany. I speak German and English. I have lived, studied and worked in three different countries and international life is my normal. I like to say that I was born in Canada, I grew up in Germany, and now, I am raising my own family in Frisco, Texas. From struggling with pregnancy loss, to a pregnancy that required me to be on full bed rest for my entire third trimester, and ultimately delivering via c-section. I am well versed in needing supportive around the clock care. And most importantly I count that care as one of my biggest blessings. Unfortunately, the birth of my son did not go as planned for many reasons: my doula could not attend my birth, I preeclampsia complications, and my son was in a breech position. Birth is a transformation, but it can also come with trauma. My experience compelled me to become a doula to hopefully help other women have better birth experiences than I did. I’m also passionate about postpartum care; in the time after giving birth, I felt vulnerable and, although I had endured a major physical and emotional event, I was not often the focus or concern. I am a labor/postpartum support serving families in the DFW area. My pursuit to maternal health education began six years ago when I experienced a homebirth of my third child. The following year, I supported a community member birth at the hospital and witnessed the differences between midwife facilitating brith at home and a midwife facilitating birth at a hospital. My research to find answers led me to learning about the history and the foundation of obstetrics in the United States. It has been my mission since then to support women experience pregnancy and labor as educated beings no matter where they decide to have a baby. My passion for this work aligns with my Faith, Islam. Therefore, as I serve families I focus on spirituality as well as science of birth.
