Hello! I’m Joselyn, a proud mom who chose home births for my two little ones. Let's look back at my life before motherhood when the idea of childbirth intimidated me more than anything, thanks to all those stories and dramatic TV shows with women screaming their heads off in the delivery room. When I became pregnant with my daughter back in 2020, I dove into research, preparing my mind, body, and spirit for a positive birth—but I completely overlooked planning for postpartum and felt quite overwhelmed. Wanting to enhance my skills, I completed a 112-hour training with Bebo Mia Inc. and became certified with Pro Doula to become a full-spectrum doula. My journey also led me to explore the rich traditions of Mexican indigenous birth and postpartum practices, allowing me to honor my heritage while expanding my knowledge.

Hi, I’m Maribel, a DONA International-certified birth doula and birth photographer based in Irvine, serving Orange County and select surrounding communities in South Los Angeles County/South Bay, the western Inland Empire, and North County San Diego. I didn’t always know what a doula was. I found this work because I needed that kind of support myself, and experiencing what it felt like to have someone calm, familiar, and fully in my corner changed the way I understood birth. Eventually, it changed the direction of my work too. Today, I try to offer families that same sense of steadiness and connection. Before labor, we build a relationship and practice tools so the day feels more familiar. During birth, I adapt to what you need: hands-on comfort, positioning, breathing and relaxation, experience with different tools, a softer ambiance for relaxation, partner coaching, and support around informed decisions. I am especially intentional about partners; my role is to support them, not take their place, so they can spend less energy wondering what to do and more energy simply being your partner. After birth, I stay connected with early postpartum care for the families whose births I attend, including emotional, educational, and practical support within my scope. Photography comes from my love of real-life storytelling. Birth is so absorbing that there are parts of your own story you may not get to see while you are living them: the looks, the gestures, or the small moments surrounding the first time you meet your baby. My documentary approach is quiet and unobtrusive, preserving those pieces so you can return to them later. Birth photography may be booked on its own or woven into doula care. My broader full-spectrum doula work also includes standalone abortion support, pregnancy loss, and infant loss support. Eligible doula services may be covered through Medi-Cal or select commercial insurance benefits.

*Currently on maternity leave for the remainder of 2026* Birth and babies are my passions. I started the journey to becoming a birth doula shortly after having my second baby, Colton. My first and second births were completely night and day. My first baby, Caleb, was an incredibly long and strenuous labor; a total of 72 hours. With my second, however, I was only in labor for a total of 25 hours, which still is very long, but not by comparison. I owe a lot of that to my amazing birth team I had for my second birth, which included a midwife and doula support, and the education I gained throughout my pregnancy on how to prepare my body for birth. I believe in a holistic approach to birth. I don't think birth should be treated as a medical emergency until proven that it needs to be. Birth is a natural, beautiful thing, and while modern medicine absolutely has its place, I don't think it automatically belongs in every birth space. That said, I support every way to give birth, because in the end you're the only one in control. If you want an epidural, membrane sweep, Pitocin, all the drugs, I will absolutely support your decision. Or if you want to deny all cervical checks, do intermittent monitoring, and have your baby in the tub, that's great by me too! My priority as your doula would be to give you access to all the information you need to make well informed choices and give you the support you need to make your birth experience exactly what you want

After my son's birth, I was reeling from how well my birth journey went. I heard so many horror stories from friends and family about how their birthing days went. I was appalled for them. Hello, I’m Laurie. Natural Childbirth is my Passion!!! Women are far more powerful then they know!!! I am a mom of 4. After having one natural but unpleasant birth. And one Pitocin assisted birth, (which I don't recommend), I decided to try the Bradley method. I now have two Bradley babies. Both were born without any medical interventions or drugs, thanks to the Bradley method. I loved being in control of my labor and having my husband there, supporting me. My classes teach you How to work with your body, not against it. And help your partner to know how to support your laboring needs. So you can work together to get that precious bundle of joy out quicker and with less pain!!!👉YES, it’s possible! 😊 I became a Bradley instructor because I truly believe it works, I know first hand. I truly wouldn't birth any other way. I also love being able to meet all those cute babies. It's such an honor to make an impact in people's lives. By the end of class my students have become my friends and I wouldn't have it any other way. The Bradley method emphasizes that birth is a natural process: mothers are encouraged to trust their body and focus on diet and exercise throughout pregnancy to keep them low risk. It teaches couples to manage labor through relaxation, deep breathing and the support of a partner or labor coach. Bradley Method® classes teach families how to have natural births, by being their our doulas. The techniques are simple, effective, and based on information about how the human body works during labor.

I live in OC with my three amazing children! If I’m not at a birth, you will find us at the beach surfing, playing, and enjoying the outdoors. I fell in love with all things birth when I became pregnant with my 1st child in 2008. As an avid reader and researcher, I made it my goal to learn everything I possibly could about the biology and physiology of birth, and how to have optimal health during and after pregnancy for both me and my baby. Like many first-time moms I have worked with, I had hesitations about giving birth to my 1st baby outside of a hospital setting. After all my research, classes, and conversations with midwives, I gained confidence in aiming for an unmedicated birthing experience. I found some lovely midwifes who had a midwifery ward in a hospital and gave birth to my 1st son unmedicated. Twenty-four hours of intense back labor from a posterior-positioned baby …but, I did it! My body actually did it! After birthing my first, statistically knowing it was the most challenging and longest labor, gave me confidence to choose home births for my second and third children. I had a successful home water birth with my second child and wanted to repeat that with my third. However, while laboring on the toilet with him, I suddenly dropped to my knees when he began to crown, and he became known as my bathroom floor “butter birth” baby :). Though I chose unmedicated births for myself, I do know it is not for everyone, which is more than OK! I quickly learned from my role as a doula that every woman’s body, medical history, and background are uniquely different. Many factors play into choosing the right birth for you. I am here to come alongside you, help you make an informed decision, and then support you every step of the way. I offer very personable and compassionate care. My approach is non-agenda-based, trauma-informed, and holistic-minded. No matter your history or past experiences, I am here to be a safe place for you. I dream of raising a house full of kids that can grow up together. When I had my two babies, I knew I wanted to attempt the natural route, and natural I went. My baby girl was born at home in 2023, and my baby boy was born at a birth center in 2025. Having experienced birth in such sweet and different ways, I decided how in love with the birth experience I was.
