My plan was to give birth from home. However, we out I am having twins and the hospital mentioned how they are the only hospital specialized in twin births. With it being high risk I would have to stay within their hospital. That or I can find my own midwife and birthing center. That is what Lattimore ultrasound doctor mentioned. When I went to the OB they mentioned I would not be able to do it else where, AT ALL. My budget is 2500 and I would like a midwife and guidance whether I am home or in the hospital.

I want to give birth at a hospital. This is my first baby so hopefully our insurance covers a doula. I would like to labor a naturally as possible staying mobile, no induction, putting off the epidural as long as possible but I may need it to manage pain as I have a low pain tolerance I believe just based on pregnancy pain so far.

Hi everyone! I’m currently 30 weeks pregnant and due on September 1st. I'm starting to look for a birth doula who supports deliveries at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital (1540 Maple Rd, Williamsville, NY). Since I’m a first-time mom, I’m not sure if my baby will come early or late, so I’m hoping to find someone who’s warm, experienced, and has a flexible on-call window.

This is baby number 3. I plan on a hospital birth, but very much wish to minimize intervention this time, and certainly plan to decline induction of any kind unless absolutely medically necessary. My first two at this hospital were low-risk, full term, and uncomplicated vaginal deliveries, however I am tired of being forced into starting pitocin with no other reason than “failure to progress. My water broke at home both times, and I was told to come in right away despite no contractions (only once was I GBS+) anyway and didn’t deliver until nearly 40 hours there both times and “needing” to start pitocin which of course was very unpleasant. I admire the midwife approach but my first experience with this also was extremely disappointing as she didn’t actually come for delivery and I was handed off to a locum OB who pushed pit as soon as I arrived. I was given a membrane sweep without consent for my second. Only once given the option to push in various positions, and was unable to move around because the continuous monitoring was not picking up when I did anything but sit still in bed. Purple pushing has destroyed my pelvic floor as well, and my first baby was OP and no effort to turn him or even figure that out until crowning was made by anyone on exam, again, as my midwife barely stopped in to say hi the morning after I checked in. I had a horrible time healing from that OP delivery laceration and still have perineal pain there. All of this and more make me want to learn how to advocate better for myself and enjoy a more hands-off delivery and I hear great things about having a doulas voice present and experience help coach through things to ensure better outcomes than the typical rushed and stressful hospital birth story for my third and final baby. I plan on an epidural if needed, although both times I have asked for gas which I was told was available early on, but no one offered any pain relief except an epidural, which ironically they then make you beg for after they’ve quickly cranked up the pitocin. Everything is so backwards. I will insist on optimal cord clamping/until no longer pulsing. (My husband didn’t even get to cut the cord previously because they rushed despite us asking prior to delivery. Placenta was pulled at least one of my two deliveries which I will not allow again. We plan on skipping Hep B and I will purchase oral Vitamin K. I have breastfed fine twice and plan to this time as well. I always hold off on bathing, do a minimum of the one hour skin to skin, and am probably skipping erythromycin as well this time. I really just like the idea of someone other than my husband and I to make sure our wishes are acknowledged in the hustle and bustle because we know too well how robotic things become in a hospital! Budget is something I’m not sure how to plan for, never having researched or used doula services before. Need to learn more about this. Thank you!

Prefer to give birth home! Budget is pretty lax, as I’m trying to give birth at home. Birth plan: give birth at home! This is my 5th baby (but first birth at home) so I am pretty relaxed on preferences. Also must note that this is my 3rd VBAC! (I had a Cesarean Oct 2020) and since had two successful VBACS; July 2022, and March 2024!
