It began in 2003 when I became certified with DONA International. Since then, I’ve had the immense privilege of witnessing countless births, each one a unique and awe-inspiring miracle. In 2004, I became a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, and in 2008, a Certified Lactation Educator and Counselor. And in 2007, I experienced the profound joy of giving birth to my own beautiful daughter, supported by two incredible doulas who showed me the true meaning of strength and compassion. I believe with all my heart that every woman—every birthing person—holds an incredible power within. Welcome! I’m Jessica Rogers. I am a Birth and Postpartum Doula with a deep passion for supporting families through one of the most powerful journeys of their lives: pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I was trained through DONA International and am actively working towards birth and postpartum certification. I am also on the journey to become a Certified Lactation Counselor through the Center for Breastfeeding. My own experience becoming a mother ignited this calling in me, and it grew even stronger during my second pregnancy. This season can be transformative, overwhelming and beautiful all at once, and you do not have to go through it alone. As your doula, I will be a dedicated and compassionate support system, someone who not only respects you but also walks beside you like a trusted friend throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. When I am not supporting families, you can find me spending time with my amazing husband, children, family and friends, exercising, reading, meal prepping or gardening. I also happen to love spiders and have a new hobby that includes two jumping spiders and a tarantula - weird, maybe, but I love them and have always had a soft spot for exotic pets (and nature in general). I also have a Bachelors Degree in Interior Design from RIT, and spent the previous ~12 years working in the field until the birth of my second baby. I was drawn to becoming a birth doula because I saw firsthand the difference that informed, loving support can make. Having gone through my own birth trauma, I realized that a little help goes a long way during this tender phase. I also have a passion for breastfeeding and lactation education. I am a trained birth + postpartum doula. I am also a lactation counselor and health educator originally from NJ, via NYC! I am new to the Rochester Area—I've been primarily a lactation counselor and postpartum doula since 2020, and first got trained with Ancient Song Doula Services in 2018. I attended my first birth in 2018 after 3+ years of health education. My family is from the Dominican Republic, I am fluent in Spanish, and conversational in French after 14 years of studying and understand Brazilian Portuguese a fair amount! I have dedicated my life to birth education and doula work, and hope to one day be a nurse midwife. I have a public health degree, a food handlers license and am about to renew my liability insurance which covers all but home births. I am LGBT competent and have assisted primarily single parents both by choice and by circumstance. I hope to end the birth parent mortality crisis in my lifetime and am so proud to be a doula!
