About me

Hello! My name is Shannon Anderson. I am the owner of Holding a Mother’s Hand, LLC and I am a Certified Postpartum Doula located in Queen Creek, AZ. I am from Phoenix, AZ and a mom to 4 amazing children and have been married to my best friend for almost 16 years now. I am very passionate about birth and postpartum, and always striving to learn more! I grew up with lots of children and babies and had always known I wanted to be someone that helped cared for children and/or babies. Being a postpartum doula and getting to help mom‘s and the family with their new little one is such a joy in my life. My practice creates a judgment-free zone for all parents seeking informational and emotional support. In my free time, I enjoy going to the lake with my family, riding quads, camping and of course playing with my sweet little grandbabies.

I truly can’t say enough good things about Shannon and the support she gave me as my birth and postpartum doula for both of my babies. She is the best support person and an even better advocate. She also made sure my births were the way I wanted them to be. She was even there for my 2nd birth when we were told 4 weeks early I would have to be induced that day. I’m so grateful I got to experience her support with both of my children. If you’re looking for someone who will make you feel heard, supported, cared for, and never alone during your birth and postpartum journey, I couldn’t recommend her enough. ❤️

Shannon is incredibly talented at making new parents feel at ease during something as challenging as new parenthood. We hired her for nighttime support for 6 weeks and it was the best decision for our family. She listens with intention, offers advice when it's needed, was very punctual and communicative, and was just the help we needed. If you're on the fence about hiring, don't be, I would recommend her services to anyone who might need a little help!

I am so grateful to have had Shannon by my side during my birth experience. I went through a three day induction, and throughout the entire process she showed up for me whenever I needed her, without hesitation. Because I had preeclampsia, I was extremely anxious and emotionally overwhelmed at times. She understood this deeply and offered constant reassurance, calm presence, and steady support. The last time she came she stayed with me from the daytime through the night and into the next morning until around 4 am. making sure I was never alone during my most vulnerable moments. Her dedication truly went above and beyond what I ever expected. She was incredibly attentive to every detail. Not only helping me stay comfortable but also guide my husband, advocating for me and offering emotional support when things felt overwhelming. Her presence brought me a sense of safety and confidence during a very challenging labor. I cannot imagine going through this experience without her. She is compassionate, patient, and deeply committed to her clients. I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a birth doula who truly cares and shows up with her whole heart!

We are so beyond grateful for Shannon and everything she did for our family. From the moment she came into our home, she brought such a calm, supportive energy. She was incredibly gentle and loving with our daughter someone we could trust completely, which gave us so much peace of mind during those early, exhausting nights. Shannon didn’t just care for our baby, she cared for our whole home. She helped tremendously with things like folding laundry, washing bottles and breast pump parts, and stepping in wherever we needed always without hesitation. She never tried to correct us or question our choices, and that made such a difference. We always felt supported, never judged. It truly felt like having an extra heart and pair of hands in the house. Shannon will always hold a special place in our story, and I can’t recommend her enough to any new family looking for kind, trustworthy, and genuinely helpful support during those tender first nights. She’s truly one of a kind.

Birth/postpartum doula, Shannon! Pregnancy, birth and the months that follow can bring so many different challenges into our lives and can birth many uncertainties and fears. Going through this major life changing moment alone can be terrifying! But, instead of fear I was blessed with having Shannon in my life as my doula! The genuine caring, love, support and knowledge you gave greatly surpassed my expectations! When I had no one, you were there and having you by my side in the operating room to do a c-section had calmed my anxiety which in turn allowed me to experience the joy of my newborn coming into this world!! I know that anyone who is considering you as their doula would be blessed beyond Measure!! You made it easy! Thank you for all you’ve done for me and my babies!

Words cannot express how thankful I am for Shannon Anderson. I had my baby alone, was nervous and scared. Shannon helped me with EVERYTHING, taught me so much and was incredibly patient with me. She became apart of my home and I was so sad to see her go. If I could recommend one thing while having a newborn it would be Shannon hands down. When I have another baby one day, she’ll be invited back without a doubt! Thank you Shannon! We love you!

Shannon has the sweetest heart and it truly shows how she interacts with babies and kids. She did overnight care with my newborn for 2 months and we enjoyed her so much. Not only did she take wonderful care of my newborn, but my older children loved when she came over. Shannon is very calm and is aware of the babies needs. At first It was hard to hand over my newborn baby to someone to take care of, but after the first night I knew my baby was in good hands and I could get the rest I needed. We were sad to say goodbye to Shannon when we no longer needed her help. I have already referred her to a friend in need. She is so kind and was a blessing to us in our newborn phase of life

We cannot begin to explain the positive impact Shannon had on our family when we had our twin girls. For starters, Shannon is an extremely caring, kind individual who takes great pride in what she does. She treated our girls as if they were her own. When we were overwhelmed once our twins arrived, Shannon was very flexible with her schedule to accommodate starting earlier than we anticipated. Shannon was always prompt and also flexible with scheduling so that she could do what would help us the most. She always took great care with our babies, provided amazing and helpful suggestions and advice without ever overstepping, and took AMAZING care of our twin girls. It also gave us great peace of mind knowing our girls were being cared for by her, allowing us to get much needed sleep. Working with Shannon was an absolutely delight and we would recommend her to anybody. We viewed her as an extension of and part of our family. Working with Shannon was THE BEST investment we could have made with the birth of our twin girls, and would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone.

We were very blessed to have Shannon care for our newborn daughter at night. It’s so hard to let a complete stranger come into your home to care for your child but upon first meeting with Shannon we immediately knew we made the right choice. Her calm demeanor and sweet personality along with her knowledge and expertise on baby care was unmatched to others. She’s the best and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to others. Thank you, Shannon!

Shannon's support has been nothing short of extraordinary during a time that was both exhilarating and challenging for us as new parents of twins. From the moment she entered our lives, Shannon's expertise and compassionate care transformed our experience into one filled with confidence and joy. As first-time parents, navigating the world of twin parenting seemed like an overwhelming task. However, Shannon's firsthand experience as a mother of twins immediately put us at ease. Her wealth of knowledge and practical advice tailored specifically to twin parenting was invaluable. From creating routines to addressing our concerns with patience and understanding, Shannon guided us every step of the way. One of the most remarkable aspects of Shannon's support was her willingness to go above and beyond. She graciously stayed overnight, allowing us to get much-needed rest while she tended to the needs of our newborns. This uninterrupted sleep was a godsend, and we felt recharged and ready to tackle each day after her visits. Shannon's genuine care for our family extended beyond the practicalities of twin care. Her empathy and reassurance provided us with the emotional support we needed during the rollercoaster of early parenthood. Knowing that we had Shannon by our side gave us the confidence to embrace the journey with enthusiasm and positivity. In summary, we cannot recommend Shannon highly enough to any parents, especially those embarking on the adventure of twin parenthood. Her unwavering dedication, expert guidance, and compassionate nature have truly made a profound difference in our lives. Shannon is not just a doula; she is a cherished member of our family's support system.

As a first time mom, I did so much research and really desired for the birth of my baby to be natural. I had a midwife and then got Shannon on board as my Doula. She was absolutely amazing. She made herself available when I needed her and consistently checked in with me through the months leading to the big day. She made me feel so confident in being able to deliver my baby naturally and knowing I had her, was so reassuring. My labor was 28 long hours. My water broke midnight on 12/21, Shannon met up with my husband and I at the the hospital at 6am & did not leave my side for one second for the next 24 hours. She did everything she could to help keep me comfortable from massaging me to giving me water and snacks the entire time. I was fully dilated for 10 hours and couldn’t get baby out. I eventually reached 24 hours of rupture, and baby was stuck so I decided to get an epidural to help my pelvis relax and also so I could rest a bit, I was exhausted. I told Shannon she should take a break too and go get some food for herself or take a nap, since she’d been awake for over 24 hours at that point, on her feet! BUT she insisted on staying by my side. I fell asleep with her right by my side, massaging me and woke up 4 hours later to her still right by my side. She made me feel so safe and mentally strong. My husband says he doesn’t know what he would’ve done without her and I couldn’t agree more. Our babygirl was finally born at 4:23am June 22nd. Shannon stuck around until she knew baby and me were okay. Shannon continues supporting us and checking in. She absolutely earned a place in our hearts and will be part of all our future babies births. We love her like family!

Shannon was awesome. My wife’s birth would have been 1000x more stressful without her guidance and support. My wife was in labor for 22 hours and Shannon did not leave her side one time, not even to get a snack. She was also very good at advocating for us when it came to the doctors and nurses. She made sure they were aware of our birth plan and that they didn’t do anything that we didn’t want them to. I was extremely impressed with her knowledge and ability to comfort both of us during a very complicated birth. We will definitely have her present at the births of all of children in the future.

Shannon was the biggest help anyone can ask for!! 5 stars aren’t even a high enough rating!!! When my wife and I first met her we knew right away she was the one to use!! For being first time parents she helped us get prepared for the birth of our son!! When we needed her she was there no matter what time it was!! We were in the hospital for 4 days and she was there the whole time and was alert when the doctors came in! Even in stressful situations she is the perfect person to keep everyone calm and collected!!! We will 100% be using her again for our next!! Thank you so much Shannon!!

Shannon was our doula throughout my first pregnancy and birth. She was so caring and gave great advice and information on evidence-based techniques during my pregnancy to make it easier. When I went into active labor, she met me at my house and began giving so much support. I chose a natural birth in a birthing center, and she provided a lot of encouragement. I don’t think I could have done it without her! I remember saying that I couldn’t do it anymore a few times, and she was an additional voice telling me that I could. Baby was OP throughout most of my labor, and she had great techniques to try to get her to turn over the right way. We hope to work with Shannon again in the future when we are ready to expand our family!

Amazing experience! Truly life changing and I’m so thankful to this opportunity I had to give birth with Shannon. I had a Vbac and I was so scared, Shannon worked with me and let me share my feelings as well as coached me through labor in different positions. All the time and work Shannon put in with me made my delivery easy and baby was in a great position after all the help I was given. Truly a perfect experience and I would recommend Shannon’s calming support for anyone giving birth.
