Hi! This is my first baby, and I’m planning a hospital birth at Winnie Palmer in Orlando. My goal is to have an unmedicated, natural birth, and I would love the option of laboring in the bathtub. I’m looking for a doula who will help advocate for my birth preferences and make sure I feel supported, informed, and respected throughout labor and delivery. Some of my preferences include delayed cord clamping and declining certain newborn interventions, including vaccines. I’d also love someone who can help my husband and me prepare physically and mentally for birth, with techniques for managing labor naturally, coping strategies, and guidance for him on how to best support me. My husband was my make shift dula my first birth and while he tried his best we both agree we could use some help. I am looking for a personality that is willing to collaborate with the nurses at the hospital so we can work as a large team. I would always put baby’s wellbeing over my own in the sense that if certain positions or recommendations are made for my baby’s well being I would respect that over what may be most comfortable at that time. I really really just need a mentor that can get in my face and tell me to get it together when needed !!! I have had the pleasure of working alongside many dulas at my place of work and I can definitely say almost every laboring Mom with a Doula tends to enjoy their experience and or fulfill their wishes of an unmedicated labor.
