About Suki

After staying home with my own two babies, I found myself with a strong passion to become a Doula because of a lifelong love of babies, birth, and parenting. I am a mother of two young adults and have education and a working background in social work supporting children and families. My approach as a Birth and postpartum doula is for families to feel as though they have a voice and are well supported through labour and delivery and beyond. I value the opportunity to come in in the days after bringing your newborn home to be there as emotional support, provide cleaning, laundry, cooking. I have an extensive background in meal preparation for the postpartum. And I also love cooking. I had a baking business and I absolutely love making fresh homemade treats while I am in your home. I help you organize your space, I love pets and have even walked dogs. I do both day work and overnights. I come from a background of social work, I have a SSW diploma and a BA in Sociology. I am a trained birth and postpartum doula with a postpartum certification from DONA which means you may get insurance coverage I have done a health Canada infection control course, and have done an infant sleep course for doulas. I am CPR and First Aid trained. And have 3 million dollar liability insurance. I am also a perinatal mental health counsellor.

What to expect

I am a counselling professional with over 15 years of experience in the social services sector, with a strong foundation in client assessment, crisis support, and community-based care. My background includes frontline intake, psychosocial support, and ongoing client engagement with diverse populations navigating complex life circumstances. I have extensive experience conducting detailed intake and needs assessments, gathering psychosocial information, and determining appropriate service pathways. In my role with the Ministry of Children and Youth Services, I assessed client eligibility, coordinated referrals, and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to support families accessing autism services. This work required strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and clear, accurate documentation. In my current role as a Birth and Postpartum Doula, I provide client-centered emotional and practical support during periods of transition, including situations involving anxiety, trauma, and mental health challenges. I regularly support clients in crisis-adjacent situations, assist with adjustment to new environments, and help individuals and families navigate healthcare and community systems. I also facilitate communication between clients and service providers, advocating for client needs and promoting informed decision-making. I am currently completing a Professional Counselling diploma at Rhodes Wellness College, where I am developing competencies in therapeutic interventions, mental health assessment, and ethical clinical practice. My approach is grounded in trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive care. I bring strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly, engage clients from diverse backgrounds, and maintain professional boundaries. I am experienced in preparing clear documentation and case notes, coordinating services and referrals, and working collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams.
