I'm a certified Gentle Sleep Coach who works with families of children from birth to ten years. I founded Tulsa Pediatric Sleep Consulting in 2011 as one of the first sleep consultants in the U.S. Since then I have worked with thousands of families all over the world!! I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Oklahoma. (Boomer Sooner!) I taught everything from second to fifth grade before “retiring” to be a stay-at-home mom when my first daughter was born. I love being able to use my background in teaching so I can educate parents about healthy sleep and empower them with a plan for resolving their most frustrating sleep issues. My experience working with children and everything I have learned about child development has been perfect for this role! Flash back to the time between being a teacher and starting this business and there would be me at home alone with my colicky, high-needs baby all day while my husband went to work (boy, was I jealous of him then!). I spent most of those days trying to get my daughter to fall asleep and stay asleep for naps and most of my evenings trying to get her to go to sleep at bedtime just to have her wake up multiple times at night. Keep in mind, this was a little before most people had a smartphone to Google everything and before Facebook even came out (feeling old here!). I was pretty much on my own to figure it out until I discovered there were people called sleep consultants. The options were very limited then but I hired the one who ended up starting the first sleep consulting certification program in the world- the certification I ended up pursuing. My training program is the most extensive & professional sleep certification program out there. I never dreamed that I would be thankful for those sleepless nights but now I know there was a reason for them! I was once the tired parent that I enjoy helping today! After spending the past decade working with families, I truly believe that every child can learn to sleep better and I love seeing parents find so much more joy in parenthood once they are well-rested. On top of being a certified sleep consultant, I'm also a certified Happiest Baby on the Block Educator and a member of the Association of Professional Sleep Consultants and the International Association of Child Sleep Consultants. Since the start of my business, I've read pretty much everything about sleep between my children's snack times (and let's face it: those happen multiple times per day!). Outside of my passion for all things sleep, I love to spend time with my husband and three amazing children, who sleep all night. Yes, even that colicky, high-needs one. Thank goodness... because I really enjoy my sleep too!! I also enjoy our family movie nights, traveling, donuts, dancing, reality TV and getting lost in Target. I'm an Enneagram Type 1 - enough said.
