As a doula and childbirth educator with over 20 years of experience, I have come to learn that compassionate support is the most important thing I bring to birth. Close to 1000 births matters. Having taught 1000s of couples in childbirth classes matters. But mostly what matters is that the person giving birth feels respected, listened to and supported by someone who is thinking about all possible options for you in an objective way. I believe in freedom of choice based on knowledge of the alternatives. I aim to increase confidence and decrease fear. And in the end, I want you to feel like you have had a compassionate, knowledgeable companion dedicated to helping you navigate this this major life transition that we call birth.

These 1:1 consults continue to help our family thrive/cope/enjoy/navigate the early years with our two sons. Mariana gives structure and expertise to all of our parenting hopes and wishes. Our little family is set up for success, and we couldn't be more appreciative! Our biggest takeaways have included how to build up practical activities in your home, how to frame your conversations with your child in a way that is developmentally appropriate, and how to balance affording our children autonomy while also ensuring that all their needs are met. Mariana and her varied supports are, without a doubt, the best parenting resource I've found in my 3+ years of parenthood.

I spent the first six years of my career working in early childhood education. First working in a daycare, then moving onto preschool, and later working as a nanny. My time in early childhood gave me a great appreciation of mothers, children, and families. I found it incredibly rewarding to be welcomed into someone’s home and life to care for their most precious possession. As I worked in early childhood I simultaneously took certifications in my other passion, fitness. I began to learn about anatomy and how different perinatal bodies are to women who have not given birth. One of my trainings stated that 80% of women will be pregnant (and eventually postpartum) at some point in their lives. This special consideration stuck with me. It wasn’t until my husband and I decided to try for children that I fully understood the wonder of fertility, pregnancy, and birth. I became obsessed with devouring all the information I could on these topics and finally stumbled upon Ina May’s guide to childbirth. This book completely changed how I viewed birth and melted my fears of childbirth away. However, by the time I became pregnant navigating the often confusing OB and even midwifery world left me feeling dizzy. The entire process left me feeling disempowered and I knew I couldn’t go into giving birth from this space. This pushed me to train to be a birth doula to ensure I would have a positive pregnancy and birth experience. The training helped me to understand physiological birth, navigating the medical world, and what I wanted even in the event of an unplanned obstacle. I finally felt confident I could handle whatever labor could throw at me. My passion for birth was born out of necessity and I plan to use that same level of devotion to help other women. I truly believe my unique skill set and experiences have lead me to the field of birth work. I created Fit to Birth to combine all my knowledge and passions. I hope to provide resources, education, and support to pregnant women in Sacramento and beyond.

Hi there! I am a birth, and postpartum doula and I work to create a calm and safe space for you as you journey through pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I prioritize your empowered and informed decision making, always turning you back to yourself and your intuition and ensuring you have all the information you need and want. I work with a holistic, traditional and Islamic framework. I believe in bringing in your belief system as the primary anchor to guide you through this process and am able to offer this especially, however not limited, to Muslim clients. When not working you can find me taking a class, running the lake in Oakland, laying in the sun somewhere or hunting for a coffee or smoothie with friends and their littles.

Where do I even begin…. Imane is such a calm and peaceful presence. I only met her four hours before my baby was born — she was introduced to me by my original doula, who couldn’t attend because I was induced unexpectedly two weeks earlier than my due date. Even though we had just met, I immediately felt connected to her warm and positive energy. Inviting someone new into your birthing space isn’t an easy decision, but with Imane, it felt completely natural. She guided me through every contraction with such grace and reassurance that everything felt easier and more manageable. The name we had chosen for our son is Raihaan — and Imane happens to be the founder of “Rawh and Rayhan” same meaning different spelling. It felt like such a heavenly connection, as if things were meant to align that way. I am so grateful I said yes to having Imane step in. She made the birth of my second child feel calm, smooth, and truly special. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thank you, Imane! Forever grateful! 🤲🙏💕

My experience was working with Jay as my postpartum doula after the birth of my third baby. I had never worked with a doula before, and after my previous postpartum experiences, I now know how invaluable that kind of support truly is. After my third child was born, I thought I had everything under control, but the postpartum period still brought challenges I wasn’t fully prepared for. She provided such a calm, knowledgeable presence that made all the difference. From helping me establish a breastfeeding routine to offering emotional support when I felt overwhelmed, she was the anchor I didn’t realize I needed. Unlike my previous postpartum experiences, this time I didn’t feel isolated or unsure. She checked in on me regularly, made sure I was taking care of myself, and offered practical tips for balancing my recovery while caring for my newborn and older children. What really stood out was her genuine care for me as a whole person, not just as a mother or caregiver. She ensured I had moments to rest and recharge, which was something I struggled with before. Her support was more than just physical help i was emotional, mental, and holistic. I felt heard, cared for, and reassured every step of the way. I can honestly say that having her as part of my postpartum journey made this time completely different from my past experiences, and I couldn’t recommend her more highly.

Greetings & congratulations on your growing family <3 I have been a birth worker for the past ten years and have served families in a variety of locations, from a free standing birth center on the Arizona/Sonora border as an apprentice midwife, to home & hospital births all around the bay area. I approach this work from a place of trusting the mother/birthing person as an expert in their needs and experience and believing that given the right tools and support a family can advocate for the birth experience they want in any location. My approach is to prepare for labor with education in the prenatal period and work my clients to plan adequately for a postpartum that will nourish integration of this new phase of life. I also bring my background in holistic health and often refer clients to work with herbs, exercise and nutritional protocol to facilitate the experience they desire.

She is passionate about what her client needs, wants, and desires; to create an outcome that supports healthy baby and birthing person. Jala did an exceptional job at emotionally supporting me as a first time mom. She did an amazing job at caring for my newborn while I got rest. She was great when it came to helping me prepare before, during and after labor. She is such a kind soul and so gentle. I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else helping me in my journey. My house was always so clean when Jala was helping out too! I loved it. She also always light a nice candle or burned sage (which was one of my requests) in the house. She is definitely apart of the family!

By implementing effective sleep and feeding routines, I have helped establish a sense of calm and stability during the critical postpartum period.

Breanna Gay was an amazing postpartum doula for our newborn baby boy Dekari from June 2023 to August 2023. She was incredibly knowledgeable and helped us through our first couple of months at home. Any questions we had, she was able to answer. As nervous first-time parents, we had so many questions, but she made us feel much more comfortable knowing that she was super experienced, and it showed! From the beginning, she was there to support us, even before our baby was born. We were able to text her all of our questions, and she replied quickly. She came in and helped us organize our nursery and set up all our gadgets. When our baby came home, she was there the first night, supporting us through breastfeeding and our long nights. She even helped tidy up the house and made me a little midnight snack because Iwas up all night. Breanna is such a joy to have, and I would recommend her to any family looking for support.

I’ve been a doula since 2020 and truly believe that postpartum support is essential to the physical and emotional well-being of the newly expanded family. I’m a mom and midwifery student, so I have a unique set of skills when it comes to providing postpartum care. Whether it’s cooking, caring for your newborn, or cleaning — I am happy to be an extra set of hands for families who are in the tender phase of welcoming a brand new tiny human into their world.

Recent review

My family was fortunate to have Alia as a student midwife and postpartum doula before, during, and after the birth of my second baby. In the prenatal appointments, Alia’s warm presence brought me joy and put me at ease. She is fun, yet gentle. She was eager to learn from our midwives and brought her own unique perspective from her experience. In a period of overwhelm, she offered to babysit our oldest to help provide moments of rest during the last months of my pregnancy. She went above and beyond. During the birth of my daughter, one of my midwives had Covid, and Alia rose to the occasion and was the midwife I needed during a home birth that was tiresome with 3 hours of pushing. Her calm confidence and warm nature helped carry me through the times that I felt like I couldn’t go on. As a postpartum doula, there was nothing that Alia wouldn’t do to help out. She is a baby whisperer and taught me many things for how to take care of our youngest. The greatest gift I got from working with Alia was developing a true and lasting friendship. She’s a special soul, and your life will be better just by knowing her.
