I am considering using a doula for emotional support during child birth and postpartum. I am looking for someone who knows hands on techniques for pain management and anxiety during childbirth and helps with self care and emotional support after child birth. I am 40 years old and this is my first pregnancy. Cost is a concern. I don't really know how much these services cost but I'm not able to spend more than $1500 and would like to keep it under that.

I want to give birth at home or birthing center but due to my lupus and kidney disease conditions I am fine with it being at a hospital if needed to be. I plan to give birth at Mary Immaculate hospital with a midwife but I would like to plan on a physiological unmedicated vaginal birth with least amount of interventions possible.
