Indiana faces one of the most severe maternal health crises in the nation, recording 31.4 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births—a rate among the highest in the United States, according to the March of Dimes. And also infant mortality in Indiana extends far beyond the delivery room—it measures every baby who doesn't make it to their first birthday. Each year, about 500 Hoosier families experience this devastating loss, representing a rate of 1 out of roughly every 160 babies (6.3 per 1,000 live births).Blessings From Above is determined to help decrease these rates within its communities by providing exceptional support to all during their pregnancy, labor/birth and postpartum periods. My passion of becoming a Doula started back in December of 2018 when I was a participant in Indiana’s Nurse-Family Partnership program. This program is for economically disadvantaged women who are pregnant with their first child. The program is designed to help support first-time mothers less than 28 weeks with support, advice and information. Each participant is assigned to a personal nurse which meets twice a month up until their baby turns two years of age . After completion of the program I was motivated to help support other birthing persons the way I was supported in my community. So, I began to do research about the profession of a Doula and the role they play in lives of people who are trying to conceive, pregnancy, in labor, delivery, postpartum and infant feeding and I knew in that very moment this was my calling. I knew I wanted to be apart of supporting a community of birthing persons along their journey of giving birth to a healthy baby.

I am Stephanie Hunt with The Diamond Doula. I am a Birth and Postpartum doula that is passionate about working with and alongside women to achieve their desired outcome for their birth and beyond. Hello my name is Emma Maxey and I have been a certified birth doula for about two years. I am located in the Plainfield, IN area and eager to support expecting parents! I have great experience with pregnancy, with myself having naturally birthed my first three children (two of which are twins) and my last baby which I birthed prematurely via c-section. I have also helped clients achieve their desired birth outcome.
