Alaina Nunez is a Certified Professional Birth Photographer and Videographer in Southern California as well as a birth doula, perinatal nutrition expert, Certified Lactation Educator Specialist and Certified Photography Trainer. She documents birth stories with her sense of calm and unique observational perspective. Her images are said to be editorial, intimate, and “in the moment”. She focuses on documenting the environment and emotions and notices and captures the little details that would otherwise go un-noticed and be forgotten. She is a second generation homeschooling mama of 7, which gives her the skill set to be flexible within a variety of situations and think quickly on her feet while seeing the beauty in the mess mess and chaos. She started attending births as a birth photographer in 2013 after the birth of her 4th child and supporting families as a doula in 2020 after the birth of her 6th child. Alaina is a Christian and opening shares about her faith and how she brings the Lord into the birth space. She says it would be impossible to not bring God into such vulnerable moments and prays for and over her clients throughout pregnancy and birth. She gives credit to God for her business and the gift of being able to support families while also documenting their birth journeys. She believes documentation is an important aspect of not just preserving stories but legacies and testimonies.

I am a native Los Angelino, raised in a bilingual household. I have always had a passion for working with children. While in high school I began volunteering at children’s hospitals, such as Millers Women and Children’s Hospital and LA Children’s Orthopedic Hospital, where I interacted with children suffering life threatening illnesses or challenging physical disabilities. Later, I was President of The Amigos Club, which aimed to bring together students regardless of abilities or neurodivergence during lunch period or after school activities. I even partnered with the Special Olympics to organize an inclusion game of basketball between our cities two rival high schools. These experiences sparked in me the desire to make a difference in the lives of others. After high school I enrolled in college and am a Child Development major. I have worked with children of all different ages in many different capacities; after school program leader, Live-Out Nanny/Babysitter, cheer coach, ABA therapist, and am currently an infant/toddler caretaker and Pre-K substitute teacher. I also help care for my grandmother with Alzheimer’s that lives with me. Most recently, I received my certification as a Postpartum and Infant Care Doula and am now enrolled in the Birthing Doula course. I’m a very nurturing person that connects naturally with others and can kindly and calmly respond to their needs. However, my extensive experience and education has given me the tools to be patient while also being intentional and proactive in order to provide the absolute best care. As your doula you will receive warm and personal care for your needs as you transition through your pregnancy. The focus will be about nutrition, exercise, self care, lactation, and plans for a safe and healthy post pregnancy recovery. As your postpartum doula, meal preparation, light housework, shopping, and caring for your baby will be provided to enable you to rest and recover. I am a retired RN for L&D/pediatric newborns.
