About me

Hi families! I’m Bekah. I’m a CAPPA Certified Labor Doula (CLD) as well as a AFPA + Pro Natal Prenatal & Postpartum Fitness Specialist. Being your doula defines my professional calling in the context of my personal passion. I provide true advocacy along with emotional, informational, and physical support to mamas and their husbands or birth companions prenatally, during labor & birth, and throughout your early weeks postpartum. As your doula, your birth vision is my goal and my privilege to honor. All families deserve an unbiased, informed decision-making supporter. I hold space by engaging conversations so that you can be fully informed of all your options prenatally, during birth & for your newborn, including the actions of others in your birth room directed upon you and/or your baby. It’s my belief and experience that parents are deeply intuitive far beyond mainstream portrayal. Service introduction

As a Certified Labor Doula, I provide radical advocacy along with physical, emotional and informational support to mamas and their husbands/birth partners throughout pregnancy and birth. Prenatally, I assist families in acquiring information about all their options with unlimited phone/email contact and two in-person prenatal meetings. During labor, I provide continuous emotional support, assist with comfort measures, guide partners through their supportive roles, and encourage self advocacy. I support home and hospital births. I remain with families up to two hours after delivery to ensure they are settled and ready for bonding time alone. When needed, I assist with initial breastfeeding. Around 2-5 weeks postpartum, I visit clients in their homes. This visit allow you to discuss your birth, ask me any questions about it, your postpartum healing, or your baby, as well as for you to provide honest feedback, and of course, to admire your baby. I offer three payment options. They are listed in detail in the contract we sign together. My range of service is the East Central Alabama area. I primarily serve Birmingham in Jefferson County, St. Clair, Etowah, Calhoun, Talladega, parts of Shelby and Clay counties, and surrounding areas. ~ Complete support throughout pregnancy, birth & postpartum ~ Essential for first time families ~ Recommended for local families ***All Birth Doula clients receive an additional Discount for Private Personal Training for both the prenatal & postpartum fitness programs*** • TWO in-person prenatal meetings at my office in Lincoln, AL (up to 2 hours each) 1. Review intake forms, multiple resource guides, local & online educational options and mindfulness practices 2. Discuss your birth vision & newborn preferences, essentials for last weeks, and your postpartum plan • One in-person birth companion support session (2 hours) 1. Review labor progression phases 2. Discuss supporters’ role(s) according to mom’s preferences 3. Practice comfort tools, manual support, and comfort positions 4. Review all roles of advocacy - Hospital birth families attend this session in my office. - Home birth families can expect this as their prenatal home visit with any home prep assistance needed. • One at-home postpartum visit (Available in-office or virtual upon request) • Birth discussion & assistance with activities of daily postpartum life. • Pregnancy goals & milestone expectations • Birth preference options & overview of standard hospital practices (included for home birth families) • Exclusive guides including: - local & online education (frequently updated) - local pre & postnatal support practitioners (frequently updated) - prenatal movement & stretching - your inherent birth tools - hospital bag checklist - postpartum recovery considerations & support planning • Evidence-based & up-to-date research, links included in guides • In depth review of your rights, self-advocacy & provider communication • One 50g Fresh Test (alternative drink for standard 1 hour glucose screen) • Continuous contact during business hours through text, email and calls for information discovery assistance, emotional support & updates • On call from 37 weeks through birth, at your choice of birth location • All comfort measure gear provided: massage gun, TENs unit, heating pad, labor combs, fan, honey sticks, etc. • Manual & emotional support, advocacy & information reminders through entirety of labor • Up to two hours of additional post-birth support & initial breastfeeding assistance, if needed • Professional doula back-up
