My journey into birth work began with a deep desire to help others feel seen, heard, and empowered during life’s most intimate moments. I graduated from Virginia State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, but I found my true calling in the world of birth and postpartum care. Those who know me would describe me as genuine, warm, and incredibly attentive to the needs of others. I believe in holding space with compassion and providing thoughtful, personalized care to each family I serve. Being a doula allows me to combine my nurturing spirit with my commitment to making a positive impact in people’s lives.

During birth, I provide emotional reassurance, physical comfort measures, advocacy, and steady presence so you feel confident and grounded throughout your labor experience. In the postpartum period, I support mothers with recovery, newborn care, emotional wellness, feeding support, and creating a nurturing rhythm at home. My approach is rooted in respect, intuition, and holistic care — honoring both the physical and emotional journey of parenthood. Whether you’re preparing for birth, navigating the early weeks with your newborn, or simply needing extra support, I am here to walk alongside you with care, patience, and encouragement. Anansa Lattimore whom we lovingly refer to as "Nzuri Asha" which means Beautiful Life in Swahili. Nzuri is a certified and continues to further her development as a doula. She has been working as a CMA for 10 years and focused in OBGYN for 6 years. During her OBGYN years, she has also received certification to co-facilitate Centering Pregnancy groups through the Centering Healthcare Institute and a certificate for completing the Strengthening Community Health Worker Programs from Harvard University. Her desire ultimately is to serve all women, but she is passionate about being able to serve the African American community and bring awareness to the care of African American women and teenagers who need and deserve during this special time in their lives, as well as empower those same women to use their voices and make more informed decisions about their healthcare.
