I am looking for someone who can help to protect me and help me feel safe and like my choices are being respected during labor. I am absolutely open to pain medications/necessary interventions, but I do have some fear in hospitals and I don't necessarily trust the medical system 100%. My budget is probably up to $1000, I'm giving birth at the UCLA center in Westwood. I am going to decide on an epidural as I go, but if I get one I want a walking epidural. I am afraid of C section to be honest, I would rather have some control and be able to move around but not feel rushed through or pressured into procedures that aren't necessary. I want to protect a calm and quiet environment as much as possible, I'm guessing I'm going to want to be very inward as I go through the process, at least as much as possible, but this is my first baby so I'm not 100% sure. Hoping to do intermittent monitoring if possible, want golden hour, don't want my provider to pull on my placenta or the cord. And I'd like delayed cord clamping :) I am definitely open to student doulas, but I don't think I want UCLA student doctors in and out disturbing my peace as I work through labor. Mainly just don't want the noise, distraction, additional people in the room.

Hi, My wife is currently 28 weeks pregnant. She is struggling with feelings of overwhelmingness, which stems from her worrying about her own hearlth, our baby's health, and carrying out every day tasks. I (husband) am working right now and she stays at home with a dog that's 1 years old. We recently moved to the Van Nuys area, so it's been an adjustment settling in. She is also planning a baby shower, which has been a huge source of stress. She is pre-diabetic and has been very carefully monitoring her blood sugar levels, which is another source of stress. I am looking for a duola to help her feel reassured and can help guide her in overall pregnacy tips before our baby is born. I would appreciate any opportunity to find a good match and discuss ways that my wife can feel less overwhelmed and more supported from now up until she gives birth.

Hello! This is my second baby and I’ll be having a hospital birth but I’d love to go unmedicated with as few interventions as possible and really want someone who can help me through the birthing process as well as advocate for me when I’m in a vulnerable state and coach me through the birth. I went 8cm with no epidural with my first, but had no idea until after I got it and really felt like with some coaching I could have made it through. This is my first time having a child, so I am looking for someone who can help me and my husband adjust to parenting and feel more comfortable with caring for our newborn. We are especially looking for overnight support, including helping with the baby during nighttime feedings, diaper changes, soothing, and getting her back to sleep. Some guidance with newborn care and establishing healthy sleep routines would also be helpful. Our baby will be a newborn, and we are looking for someone who has professional newborn or infant-care experience, strong references, good values, and a good educational background. We would prefer someone who is certified in infant/child CPR and first aid and has several years of experience caring for newborns. A second language is a plus but is not required. We also have two poodles, so it is important that the person is comfortable around dogs and treats them kindly. We may occasionally need help with light household cleaning, baby laundry, and keeping the nursery and baby areas organized while caring for the baby. Overall, we are looking for someone who is caring, trustworthy, patient, responsible, respectful of our parenting decisions, and able to provide reassurance and support as we learn how to navigate being first-time parents. In regards to budget, we are hoping we can go through insurance.
