2 - 3 prenatal visits; support during labor, birth, and immediate postpartum at your birthing location; 1.- 2 postnatal visits to offer lactation support, post-birth processing and recovery counseling, and tips for better sleep with your newborn.

Postpartum Doula

Skilled, experienced postpartum care is the standard base of $60/hr. Twin care is $75/hr. Postpartum support is exclusively overnight. Some may call this a “night nanny,” but postpartum doulas have much more training. I offer lactation counseling and support, best newborn sleep practices, infant sleep coaching (from 4.5 mos. and older), and overall sleep support for baby and parents, and how to navigate those first several weeks successfully. I offer to help with light household chores (baby dishes, some laundry) if time allows.

$60 USD · Per hour

Combo Birth & Postpartum hire

If I am hired as both your Birth and Postpartum Doula, you get the discounted rate of $55/hr for postpartum care.

$55 USD · Per hour

What to expect

As a Birth Doula, I combine childbirth and lactation education in our scheduled prenatal visits to prepare you and your partner for labor, birth, and the immediate postpartum period. When supporting families postpartum, I help get everyone - especially the baby - on the best sleep schedule possible so you can recover/heal and be able to enjoy this precious newborn period you waited and worked so long for. :) During this time, I also help as a lactation coach and Newborn Care Specialist to ensure everyone makes the transition as healthy and safely as possible. Regarding insurance - many insurance companies reimburse a portion of birth and/or postpartum care, but I do not bill insurance. I give you an invoice for care provided and you would submit that to your insurance for reimbursement. I can help you understand how to go about this if need be. Most HSA and FSA plans allow for birth and/or postpartum care as well. I have my NPI# (National Provider Information) included on the invoices as some insurance providers may require that.

I cannot recommend her enough. Candace helped me through all three of my pregnancies! She provided unwavering emotional support throughout my pregnancy and postpartum, helping me feel seen, heard, and confident during such a vulnerable season. She gave me invaluable breastfeeding guidance and was an incredible resource when I developed mastitis and preeclampsia. Her compassion, knowledge, and calming presence made such a difference in my experience. Every family deserves someone like her in their corner.

We've had Candace with us on two birthing journeys and she is fantastic. She's incredibly knowledgeable and spent all the time we needed to feel ready for birth. We highly recommend her as your doula, whether your medical care team is wonderful (we love ours!) or if it needs supplementing. Our first experience with her was with our first baby. At that point, we had no idea what to expect and, honestly, I was scared about the pain of childbirth. Candace provided a series of classes for my husband and I. It really put me at ease and gave me confidence in my body's (and mind's) ability to have a very healthy, positive, and natural birth. She gave practical tips for nutrition (backed with science and different studies!), readying my body physically, partnering advice so my husband and I could be an effective team, how to prepare a birth plan, how to advocate for yourself during labor, and so much more. Because of the preparation Candace was able to guide us through, I've been able to have two incredibly successful, non-medicated, non-tearing, births. (Our first-born was 8lbs 13oz, and our second was 9lbs 2oz!) Not only is Candace available during our pregnancy journey and birth, she was also able to assist us postpartum as our lactation consultant, how to continue taking care of my recovering body, and checking in on our babies. Even when we had a miscarriage, she was able to provide lots of insight and encouragement during the entire process. She has lots of experience with different cultural backgrounds which was a plus for us —we're a biracial couple— and was also very supportive of our faith practice. She was accessible, flexible (Zoom or in-person), generous... We can't say enough good things! She will definintely be our go-to doula if we decide to have a third ;)

I am super glad to have had Cadence as my doula. She is a very knowledgeable person, and her calm presence instantly put me at ease. I had a super busy agenda prkor to birth and naturally tend to be introspective, so I didn't want to talk too much leading up to the birth. Cadence completely respected my choices and my space, yet she was always incredibly available and very responsive, stepping up to support me even during late nights when I had questions about what to buy or breastfeeding. ?She was absolutely marvelous on the delivery date. My labor took 3h30 of push, and she stayed by my side all the time, constantly turning me and doing massages to get me through it. She made sure I was fully taken care of by keeping me hydrated (she is a huge fan of bone brithy) and fed, answering my questions, and helping me make decisions on the spot while fiercely maintaining my birth wishes. She also did a fantastic job supporting my family and my husband. On top of that, she registered beautiful pictures that are a great memory of that day and her postpartum support was thorough. I was super glad to have her on my side. She made me feel safe and relaxed and I super recommend her as a doula!
